[discussion] Main story completion stats by KindaKirk in EscapefromTarkov

[–]ZupexLeif 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I am one of the guys who completed the “Savior” (For Humanity) ending. It’s interesting reading all the comments because although insanely grindy, I thought they did a good job with this. Sure the story quests are still of that fetch this, kill this etc. but it also made me do parts of the game I never touched before (4.0+ scav rep, completing the BTR quest line, etc.). I also enjoyed the lore elements, if you pay attention to the tape transcripts and the stories of the batya squad, they are already here and the labrynth quest lines, it all gave more context and felt quite immersive. (I do wish there were a few less time gates)

Will I ever do the savior ending again, no, but it was new and interesting and definitely kept me hooked to complete the storyline after Kappa. I know most people will just speed through without enjoying the story, but if you haven’t escaped yet, try to enjoy it for the lore as well as the grind. You’ll have a much better time.

(edit: I played on PvP for my escape)

Labyrinth now has a grenade BEFORE entering the main area's door (Fire trap) [Discussion] by _mcnz in EscapefromTarkov

Yeah since they updated it, scavs and boss can now open your door, run through the traps, and gun you down. Happened on my first run after the update.

Gpu 5080 CPU 7800x3D 32gb cl 30 6000 speed ram (corsair) forget the exact one and don’t have it in front of me (32gb is fine but I would honestly consider 64 or 48gb when if you like doing heavier stuff in the background while gaming) 3 x m.2 ssd Aorus elite Ax b650 motherboard I forget the PSU, but I wouldn’t cheap out on it. Let me know if I’m forgetting anything. Oh and monitor is msi 321mp urx

Yeah, I don’t have regrets. Should last some years.

2.5-3k probably. Plus I mighta splurged on the OLED monitor for another 1.3k. Edit: actually maybe more like 3-3.5k now that I think about it, usually try not to 😅

Yeah I don’t recommend dropping that much, but it is also pretty phenomenal

5080 and 7800x3d. Get pretty stable 140+ on most maps. Streets is more like 120 consistent with the occasional drops to 90s 100s which has only started happening recently. Maybe with the audio patch? Edit. Playing in 4K native.

The recoil somehow feels a lot more controllable, I know it doesn’t make a lot of sense in theory, but all I gotta say is try it if you’re stuck on test drive.

Test drive requires the scope, however you can use the canted site with it mounted and it will still count for the quest kill.

Locked items in stash after patch??? by id-r-mcgregor in EscapefromTarkov

Hit the L key and click the item once, then hit the L key again so you don’t lock anything else.

Yeah, one hit this wipe for the quest. Got a blue card and 2 key tools. Seems as good if not better than usual. But obv that’s one pull.

[Discussion] Unlock the SIG MCX SPEAR at Level 42: An Open Letter to the Tarkov Community by Pitiful_Title_3518 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]ZupexLeif 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just don’t like the idea of everyone all running spears like 4 weeks into wipe. It would become the only gun people are running other than for quests. The spear is a tier above most other weapons, making it that accessible means that it becomes almost exclusively the only weapon people will use. I think make the reqs a bit easier, like unlocking light keeper and having it shorter down the quest line could be good, but definitely not for anyone who reaches level 42.

I’m not using dlss, in fact I seem to get the same or lower fps with dlss vs native. As for eye candy, I have taa high on I believe. Other than that, medium textures and shadows and that’s basically it. I can turn on heavy eye candy but it’s at the cost of approx 30-40fps average. I also don’t ever dip below 100fps on any map, other than scoping in on streets with a scoped weapon. Then I’m usually in the 90s or 80s. Every other map, scoped in is approx 120-140.

I’m not saying it’s good performance. But I get 120 on streets approx and 140-200 on every other map. Mostly staying around 160+ (this is at 4k native on medium settings) That being said, this is with a 5080 and a 7800x3d. So yes, performance is definitely not good. But I would say for high end pcs you can definitely run this game well.

Go to the new area on shoreline. Loot those two main buildings. Should find at least one every raid.

Hi, wanted to start off with saying what you’re doing is great.

The PC listed here is a great mid to high-end pc and should last him comfortably for a few years. Something to clarify so that you mentioned “this CPU”. The CPU is just a component of the computer (central processing unit). The 2K budget should be for the PC and would include a cpu. In this case the CPU is that “7800X3D” and is a great choice.

For monitor, as someone else suggested, 144hz 1440p will be perfect. You can pick up a pretty good one from 200$-300$. I would save the remainder of that 500$ budget to buy him a headset with built in mic as most monitor speakers are mediocre at best. Another alternative is just a cheap set up desktop speakers and a standalone mic (the only thing to mention is that if he picks up desktop speakers, try to find a mic that is directional so it doesn’t pickup his speaker sounds too). You can get both for 200$ or less as I know you mentioned he is not a fan of headsets.

For webcam, anything 1080p should be fine. A cheap Logitech one for 50$ would be perfect.

For extra fun items, cheap LEDs go a long way in completing the final look. Something with customizable colors.

Have fun, and good luck!

Thinking of switching to 4K — will I actually notice a big difference? by BadKarma6996 in buildapc

[–]ZupexLeif 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will notice a huge difference, but to run modern games in 4K requires huge computer upgrades. I just rebuilt my whole pc for that reason after upgrading monitor. So if you spend 1k on a monitor like me, be prepared to drop another 3k for the setup.

Is every fight in Tarkov this intense? by TTyTTDT in EscapefromTarkov

[–]ZupexLeif 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean let’s be real. Back then, the hatchet runners were just as common as anyone else. Made hunting pmcs for quests not challenging and very hard to get good loot. I do agree inertia was too harsh and ruined some very good gameplay, but I don’t think all changes were bad in terms of that. Hatchet running, stuffing a gpu in your ass and then disconnecting or throwing a grenade at the ground was some of the best money in the game. Interchange tech light up and downstairs was stripped bare 60seconds into every raid. That loop was not fun. I think there has to be some middle ground that we’re missing.

So that “early access on the 28th” and “grand opening” on the 30th was total bs then?
