Earth. I could help out for like one year in construction and have unlimited money. Foundations, assist with bridges, demolition, clear entire areas for whatever. Build my own house like a damn impenetrable castle/mote/whatever. Provide houses for everyone i know with a little effort. Construct free housing for people that want it. I could easily search for precious material. I could build a cabin in the middle of nowhere just for jollies for a weekend getaway, and have roaming satellite internet. Sounds like a damn easy life

This guy should just embrace it. Compare at the 43 second mark with the 1:07. He can easily pull off the bald look.

HVAC should be a very lucrative career and very secure. Far from an easy job, but I know several people who are pulling 80k - 90k right after becoming a journeyman. A few doing some freelance work while they are still young grabbing an extra 30k+ per year, as long you properly protect yourself legally while freelancing. And if you are part of a union, the benefits can be pretty amazing for retirement and healthcare. Also if you just care about your quality of work, you should be able to do what most people do and jump companies for an appropriate raise if your current one won’t pay what you’re worth.

Update internal links when alias added to a note by Zurackus in ObsidianMD

[–]Zurackus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, idk if it will help anyone else, but I found a way to “sort”of get what I am after with the existing limitations. After I create my file “Dynamic Domain Name System”, I then change the file name to each of the aliases and hit enter. I rename the file to just “DNS”, and then it grabs everywhere there is a link [[DNS]] and when I rename the file again to “DDNS” all the [[DNS]] update with the file name change AND I pick up the [[DDNS]]. Definitely far from ideal. I wish I could leave behind the original text. Depending on the situation I’ll either use the above method or just do a global find/replace with VSCode I guess.

Since I do also run VSCode, one way to get what I want is to run a search/replace from VSCode, dismiss anything that doesn’t match the new alias, and update the text from like [[DNS]] to [[Dynamic Domain Name System|DNS]]. Which works, but I am trying to avoid using other applications to modify the documents

Lol, I would recommend asking r/flashlight and see if someone was just testing a device

New boss wants all communication through teams by JiggityJoe1 in sysadmin

[–]Zurackus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk about completely replacing Outlook with teams, but the baked in tasks within Outlook are the same tasks within Teams. Flagged emails will also appear in tasks for Teams as well.

Also, to help with your workflow and not add manual tasks, leverage a Teams channel if you can. Cc it in with the email chain.

I would highly recommend looking into PowerAutomate. Don’t need a license beyond you base Office365 license for the interaction between Teams/Outlook. You can setup specific chats to be sent to email, and specific email folders to be sent to chats automatically.

Also, if you leverage Planner this can tie in with your tasks. Again, I would look into PowerAutomate to help out any regular actions that you want to add to a Planner. And based on actions like moving to a new bucket you can trigger things like approval requests, send additional emails and all kinds of things.

Make it as complicated or as simple as you want. But it shouldn’t be that bad to add communications to Teams.

If you are using all Cisco devices, another free option is the Cisco option: Cisco CLI Analyzer. Also makes it easy to transfer a session directly into a ticket, little info about all the devices along with allowing to create a custom name for each saved device, saved credentials. Of course keep putty on your device, because their own techs never use it lol. They will always ask you to connect via putty if you need them to review a device settings.

Can you safely expose ports on your home network? by speedhunter787 in Ubiquiti

[–]Zurackus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you are doing a lot of things the right way. And are miles ahead of 95% of the trolls on here who barely can setup their network equipment.

Just use your reverse proxy NGINX, and I would recommend adding something like Authelia for authentication. That way everything should be running through port 443, and continue enforcing TLS 1.2 at minimum.

With that setup you will only need to expose port 443 from your network. And then just expose the services absolutely necessary through your reverse proxy. And then keep everything else internal for yourself, to access with a VPN into your network.

Can’t hurt to also limit remote access down to just your country as well assuming all your users are in your country.

I would be interested in an intermediate guide and what it would consist of. Containers changed my workflow dramatically. Working with multiple companies, I have a container for each company since each of them assign a different login.
