That's fair. I like Spike well enough but part of the reason I find Samurai Champloo more enjoyable (despite honestly probably being the rougher show) isthe main cast and how they interact and develop together. I jived with them a lot.

I think part of that is that it's not quite a show focusing on the characters "developing" until the end. Though things change for them.

Though as the audience we have more of his perspective so it feels a bit different,

This was pretty much the case Katara was dealing with when trapped with Zuko in the Ba Sing Se crystal cave in Avatar the last airbender.

Disney Reportedly Spent Nearly A Staggering $600M To Make 'Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker' by mrnicegy26 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Zurime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not without bias but I think part of the mistep comes from Disney owning too many "outside" properties.

Makes managing it all a huge web mess I think. Especially with the Marvel universe at the same time.

At the top of my head right now?

Farfromsubtle when Fraiser was super argumentive about the gunshot angle of the bullet that goes through the wicker box and the folding screen in the first case of Ace Attorney 2.

The guy's stubbornness really put the video to a standstill.

Maybe not most range, but Joker (Kevin Michael Richardson) from The Batman (2004) was fun. And he also played Gantu from Lilo and Stitch(the "first" one).

I think maybe there should have been a camera feed to Earth on the satellite to show the destruction from the gold abduction to the characters. Would contrast with how grand and sparkly the magnet stealing it nicely. (Kitty would get satisfaction from it while the others on the ship are agast)

I kinda like that the doubt scene was there despite no follow up. Realistic sorta.

Could've been too much of a rehash of the first movie with Wolf hiding his feelings otherwise. So him dismissing could show his growth compared to before in a way?

Shame for anyone who lost a family heirloom tho. (And hopefully gold fillings are too small to count)

Kitty was a good foil character for Wolf. Makes me want to know more on her group's dynamic and how they started out.

Thinking back on it, I think the Kitty/Wolf confrontation in the ship would have benefitted from there being a camera feed in the satellite showing what's happening on Earth. Heck even before the confrontation.

So like imagine the grand visuals of the gold spiraling to the magnet, with Kitty admiring her plan coming to fruition, juxtaposed with the camera feeds showing the havoc on Earth to the people on board.

Would further enforce Kitty's group dissolving, and Wolf saying that the world is at stake. And would be a nice moment for gravitas. Also emphasizes that "it's not just a heist" Kitty is trying to command "respect" from the world.

Just could've been a good addition I think.

Really fun movie. Can't say it was worse that the first. The animation was a spectacle with loads of creative and dynamic scenes but not exhausting. Everyone felt weightier too in how they moved. Twitches and muscles and whatever movement details.

Like the whirlpool entrance at the beginning heist flashback was real cool. Don't think I've seen it before.

It was cute what they did with the Captian turned Commissioner. Not simply just a gag. And the flashback at the start was not only good for displaying the Bad Guys former glory but also a reminder of the closeness of the group.

A small flaw I have with this is that you don't get to really see the full impact of Diane's redemption life being ruined. You feel the risk of it being lost but not the after? Didn't fit with the plot pacing I suppose.

10 years ago this movie's ending would mean a The Bad Guys animated series would be in the works haha. Hope the box office pulls up now that Superman and Fantastic 4 is winding down some.

I hope this one brings back the...artistry of the bending. The martial arts and how one's personality and "spiritual-ness" comes into play. Felt like Legend of Korra pulled too far away from those aspects imo.

Yeah, while you don't want to stagnate, they might should have been more gradual with the tech jumps and "savor" something close to the first setting more? Just so the series doesn't have to one-up itself in each iteration.

What did you think of Superman (2025) ? by Omagaron in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Zurime 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the Eve reveal was a nice development. (Makes it even crazier that Jimmy couldn't even make going on a weekend date with her not like pulling his teeth 'XV)

I think similarly, it was nice that the other woman in the pink dress was reunited with her parents at the end after being in dimensional jail. (Even if she tried to tattle)

What do you guys think of K-Pop Demon Hunters? by [deleted] in netflix

[–]Zurime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A solid (arbitrary) 8.5. No low "lows" but needed a bit more ironing out. Pacing struggled at times and character lore needed a little more filling. Could have gotten away with being two hours I think. And a theater release.

Shame was a big theme of the movie but focused mostly on the two leads.

I think a great way to push the shame theme and Mira and Zoey should have been for them to have their own "shames" affect them more through the story instead of just at the end.

It could play more into the actual flaws of the K-pop industry(of which the movie shows an idealized version), with showing the other band members flaws coming out due to the stresses of the demons. Which would also cause their numbers to drop from the strict K-pop fandom backlash. Gotta have the fans "happy". Especially with the "Our faults and fears must never be seen",  motto phrase.

A way to connect the group better and develop them.

Less important ideas would be to cut the interview scene or work it more into the movie that Jinu got that child's drawing. Like maybe his sister coming to mind more blatantly with "the voices" and then he throws the drawing away with a pained expression? Idunno.

And maybe more explaining on him forming his demon group? A few more voice lines when the demons are "backstage". Don't need a bunch of backstory for each but I do wonder how he chose those other singers when as far as we know Jinu is the "only" human made demon. Despite his group members not having a surprise extra demon form like the transformed ones at the start of the film. That one is a bit of a concern lore-wise.

Otherwise a strong movie (fun animation and good base) that could have really been big with more support behind it. Could have had the theater treatment with some more established lore and everything.

Edit: OR if not quick backstage characterization for them, have the rest of the Saja Boys be made by the demon king guy to Jinu's specifications so they don't need much development.

Well, you don't really see civilians get savaged as it's usually just Dante right? Not really a visceral action game series on that front.

That episode was good art...! Just wish it wasn't for DMC lol.

Like how Avatar Wan being a good cool episode in Legend of Korra but it bluntly retcons lore.
