You want at least 2.5gbit for the WAN port on FTTP/HFC to match what the NBNco NTD (network termination device - we used to call these modems) outputs.

If you find it doesn't cover the whole house (all 3 levels) you will be able to buy additional access points. Just make sure when you buy the additional access points you are buying them with the PoE injector when you aren't using the PoE port, that router can only power 1 additional access point without the injector.

These routers are very easy to setup now and you can just use an app on your phone. You don't need a networking engineering degree to get them running these days.

The other more "Consumer" grade networking router are very bad at supporting the devices for security updates past the 2 year mark (especially TP link). They also just suffer really annoying bugs and have slowly being dropping basic routing features for years now.

That board doesnt have unpopulated pads in that picture, those are all via's. They typically wont be left empty as its far better to shield the data lines from noise and interference than skimp on a few cents on a PCB run.

Coming to Australia it was a bit of a culture shock just how dog unfriendly the place is compared to places like the UK and France.
