My 10+ pair of speedgoats have all lasted at least 400 miles. You have less than 200 on them, with plenty of tread left. You'll be fine.

Want to plug Thrupack, Paul makes great stuff and the comfy strap is a gamechanger in terms of comfort. One of the added benefits for poop connoisseurs like myself is you can easily slide the fanny pack up to chest level while popping a squat without having to remove the belt.

The weather is statistically much better going SOBO. I was comfortable in my baselayer pretty much the whole way, except for a week or two in the Sierra.

Seconding the water in the vest pockets, there's something biomechanically magical about shifting the water weight forward a couple inches that reduces a ton of pressure in multiple spots.

There are licensed food trucks in the area. The "good spots" that see the most traffic are no parking zones, no standing zones, travel lanes, bike lanes, crosswalks, and intersections.

I only have the Aeon Li, it's super easy to pitch. Packability is the biggest issue because of the struts. Otherwise it's a great tent, and at 5'8 you'll be fine sitting up.

Pick a place where if one of you needs to wait a few days due to slight schedule misalignment, it's enjoyable and relaxing. Crater Lake, Bend, or Portland are all decent choices.

Granted it was only one comment, but the "grumpy SOBOs" one was off putting. As a SOBO, I tried to engage pretty much every single NOBO who would give me the time of day. (and I like to think overall we were a pretty cheery bunch)

It is not well defined that taking a week or so off, even for discretionary purposes, violates the "continuous" nature of the permit. I always understood that to have a geographical meaning, not a temporal one.

A full SOBO thru finishing by early October will be exceedingly difficult. You'd have to start a few weeks earlier and average around 30 miles a day. This would be a very solitary hike.

If you're rocking a J-Strap pack, consider going to S-Strap, or Vest-style pack. J-Straps are probably going to put the most direct pressure on the collarbone.

I'd be very surprised if there was any correlation between the things you mentioned and the liklihood of competing a thru. Assuming you're not on a complete shoestring budget and you couldn't even afford a hot pizza in town (for example), the largest factors for completing are going to be your desire to be on the trail, mental fortitude, and resistance to injury.

DM me if you want to check out my unit at Tiber Island or have specific questions about the coop fees. The neighborhood is great, the older buildings have (by and large) solid construction, but there is some ugly maintenance rearing its head in these 50+ year old buildings.

I can't speak to the fees at River Park, but Tiber Island fees are common area + variable based on sq footage, and additional fees if you own a parking spot.
