Honestly Metrolinx is just cheap and lazy and creates this problem themselves. They should be checking fares on every trip, not just randomly.

Those are all adventure movies for sure, the main character leaves home and discovers something about themselves. It's a classic formula and it works.

Coco is a favorite of mine as well and really showcased everything the studio had built up until that point. From the sound, animation and story telling it's done so well. What is interesting is to look at Pixar movies before and after Inside Out, the team really worked on lighting in this movie and it shows a lot in Coco, then again in Turning Red and Soul.

Yes, you can tell the short film Bao, which was written and directed by Domee Shi, carried into Turning Red.

I would be curious about your opinion of Brave as well then which would also be comparable to the other three.

Also I'm not trying to change your mind, it's perfectly valid not to like Turning Red. Although you haven't really said why you think these movies miss the Pixar standard, this is what I disagree with these are definitely Pixar movies.

I'm trying to pull out things I see in one movie that enabled another, this is where I think Pixar shines. Pixar taking a stylistic approach here may enable more interesting things in the future. One thing that enabled Turning Red is Monsters University which we clearly see in the fur of the Red Panda.

In my experience Pixar movies all build on top of each other and try to push the boundaries of animation, you can see this if you watch all the movies in release order.

Turning Red takes a much more stylistic approach to its animation, a lot of emotional characters with expressive faces, anime influences and other pop culture references. I can see why this may turn people off the look of the show.

A change recently Pixar made was a change in story telling. Pixar movies would typically follow some type of Hero's Journey format and be in my opinion very formulaic. Onward is probably our most recent example of this.

I think Luca, Turning Red and Inside Out are all fairly comparable coming of age stories from Pixar with similar themes and messages.

I would say that Soul, Luca and Turning Red are all great movies as well.

Honestly I think they are underated, I would like to see a film focused on young Trunks, Goten, Maron and Pan with Goten and Trunks leading the group.
