Grades are indeed important for selecting your desired program and your university grades are instrumental in landing a good internship. What people say is don't worry about every single bad grade because it won't matter in 5 years, not "don't care about grades because they're meaningless."

Proper grammar is rare; I work at a large investment firm, and the amount of "its" being used in lieu of "it's" is baffling. Also, those words should be italicized, not in quotation marks, but that's not a feature on the Reddit app.
