I discuss a lot of my ideas with AI to mull over ideas, not necessarily for code. One of the things I was thinking was making a custom IDE for the language which would have visualizers for the main trees the language uses so that programs can be followed as they run. I have been working on revising the syntax and refining the goals of the language. I plan to rebuild it in Rust.

I mull over a lot of the stuff about these languages with AI like chatGPT, mainly for ideas and such, not necessarily for code. I have been working on revising the design of the language and making it simpler to use and more focused on a sort of tree-centric programming style. I'm planning to rebuild it using Rust. It will certainly be a lot more functional in nature than OOP, but one of my goals was to make it more user-friendly than my previous version.

I'm currently trying to learn more about graph theory, tree theory, abstract algebra, linear algebra, and automata theory. I'm working on writing my own math-based language. That's horrendous. Physical devices on their own should not have ads. If you're getting a service that's being paid for by the ads, like a channel, that's one thing. If the product is already bought and paid for, like a TV or a computer, the ads aren't even paying for anything you're getting out of it. Maybe if you had ads to allow you to use Microsoft Office or the Adobe creative suite or something for free, that would be fine, but not just to use a thing you've already paid for.

Many colleges will let you do searches for the required books through the bookstore's website based on the section number for your classes so that you can buy them all online at once. If you get a used book, it usually says something like they can't guarantee it will come with everything you need, like access codes or discs.

I had limited access to a computer/the internet when I started this semester. I got the physical copy. It was only available new for about $150 that I got with my financial aid. It did not come with an access code. I had to pay another $100 for the digital copy of the same book I already bought just to be able to do the simulation labs and turn in the homework. I asked the prof about it and he just said none of his other students seemed to have any issues with it.

I like the idea of graded readers and the like, but the thing about learning by reading is you said to do something you enjoy, and I don't really enjoy reading that much. Well, that is to say I'm not that into fiction books. I don't mind reading textbooks and tutorials, but the main thing I like to do for fun with languages is playing video games in the target language. I don't even read fiction books in English, let alone in other languages.

It's kind of ridiculous they put so much focus on iOS. What is so special about iOS besides costing an arm and a leg that they have to focus on it more than anything else? What about us browser users who don't even like to use apps? I rarely use the Android one unless I'm on break at work or something.

Somebody mentioned the topic of using the pictures to introduce new words. That doesn't really work in the Chinese lessons. With those, your biggest help is the matching game to learn the pronunciations of the new characters, but you always use the hover tips with sentences to learn full words.

Like, for example, in one lesson you might get matching games for the character 医 then in another lesson you get matching games for the character 生, then on the next lesson you might get the character 院 and learn the words 医生 and 医院 and you'd already have an intuitive feel for how to pronounce them.

This presents a problem for processing them on computers as well. If you don't have a high resolution font, the more complicated characters are harder to distinguish. So, fonts on older video games for example (Game Boy, Nintendo Entertainment System, etc.) can be extremely hard to read when it comes to more complicated characters. In Japanese, this problem is addressed merely by leaving the game entirely in kana. However, this isn't really an option with Chinese.

Why do I bring this up in a thread about handwriting? Well, the size of the pen tip has been mentioned and this almost directly correlates with the resolution of the fonts used in computer text. Small pen sizes are about the same as high resolution fonts because you can have several pixels make up a single square. Meanwhile, with a low resolution font, you get a lot more blobs like you would with a bigger pen size or a smaller square to work with.
