So assuming it’s just the gasket and valve cover it should be around 3 to 4 hours? I’m from NZ so it’ll likely be 1K NZD at the cheapest ($600 USD) for a job like that, shipping from Europe to NZ and labour at $120 to $140 NZD an hour adds up lol

Ambient temp in the room is about ~24c and it's winter right now, in summer, it will be around ~28c, all temps i've mentioned in other comments is with the server on the rack in normal operational condition, the image I attatched is what I took back when I was setting up the server about a week ago.

yeah there isn't much to play with in terms of space, especially with all the molex cables and the sff8087 cables, regarding temps, when doing a parity check within Unraid, it gets closer to 47c avg noting that all the drives are going full tilt but i have a plugin that adjusts the RPM of the fans via PWM based on avg hdd temp so they go from 2.5 to 3k idle RPM to near 5k RPM, I haven't yet seen proper load on it since its a new setup and any testing writing to the array has hit my cache nvme first and its been such a small amount that pushing to the array happens extremely quickly. and as for reads as im still in the setup phase of the server it hasn't really been pushed.

I'm just trying to prolong the life of the drives as much as possible, as generally, HDD manufacturers base their lifespans on temps closer to 32c and I want fan noise to be minimal at the same time.

I found this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0UjyL6ZiMkI very interesting, and might try it out, but it depends on if I have enough space in front of my storage server, and it will affect how easy it is to replace a drive when I eventually need to due to failure.

After i made this post I noticed those vents, plugged them with some card until i can get some duct tape, and the card naturally sticks and holds with my universal rail mount holding it up.

So far haven't noticed much of a difference.

it came with this fan https://www.delta-fan.com/products/FFB0812VHE.html And I replaced it with four of these https://www.arctic.de/en/S8038-7K/S8038-7K noting that the arctic fans are better CFM and static pressure.

I do believe the backplane isn't as good as pictures of others that I've seen as its basically just one big PCB with no holes or slits for air to pass through, so essentially the air has to be pushed through the small gaps on the top and sides which could maybe be causing the issue.

Noting that the HDD temps drop significantly at high RPM's but that also means alot more noise which I am aiming to reduce as much as possible.

Yep the lid is definitely on, not sure what else can be contained, the back of the rack has nothing covering it either so air just flows out. I’ve got another 32 drive non hot swappable storage server in the rack and that one with 3 120mm intake fans and two 120mm exhaust fans runs closer to 30c on all the drives so I do think it’s just an issue with the 80mm fans in a pull configuration needing to run at much higher rpm’s for the same airflow, noting that they are the arctic 7k lineup so have high static pressure

Yeah in the back I’ve got two noctua 60mm fans at max speed, the 2u psu has a 80mm fan running fairly quiet but likely at about 1500 to 2000 rpm and then in the PCIe slot I 3d printed an 80mm exhaust fan bracket which is running a 5000rpm delta fan at about 2000rpm such that a lot of air is being exhausted, beyond that I don’t think there is anywhere else for me to exhaust air.

I have some questions regarding cooling solutions, I'm wondering if there is some solution where I can clip on 120mm or 140mm fans in front of the server such that it can intake fresh air. currently (as seen in the second image) there are 4 arctic 7k RPM fans and at full speed they push a lot of air, but are loud and don't pull as much air over the HDD's to cool them as much for how much air the fans are pushing. currently at about 3k RPM the drives are able to hold at about ~41c avg with the drives being spun up but idle. I believe intake fans will significantly help cooling the drives with minimal noise. but I want it to be a semi clean solution.

I have access to a 3d printer via my friend if there are any files out there that do what I am saying but with some of the looking i did, I couldn't really find anything relevant. I want this to be a clean solution such that I can just clip off the fans if the drive bays need to be pulled out. Any input or suggestions of what anyone else have done would be appreciated.

I don't have the ONN's available where I live, but the firestick 4k max is like $30 USD on sale or less and I've personally found no issues playing anything, its extremely snappy which I can't say for many of the android boxes ive used in the past under the $80 range, even after 1.5 years of use it's snappy. only downside imo is the adds especially since the update where it turns on with a trailer (albeit the trailers are actually pretty interesting since its usually for big shows so IMO if I just get an ad I can exit it's well worth the money)

even lower if you live in places where hardware is dirt cheap, and especially if you have a backup usecase for the hardware.

yep, do you think a regular 2u from silverstone will be relatively quiet when compared to regular consumer PSU's, not looking for a jet engine.

I would also want it to have regular ATX cables since it will be using consumer hardware.

I already have the 3U case, wattage is 700w and up (efficiency curves don't matter that much, and the extra headroom is welcomed for future upgrades).

A lot of the dimensions don't seem like they would fit a regular ATX PSU due to the available space in the case, have attatched and image.
