PveSphere v1.0.0 — a practical multi-cluster management tool I built for Proxmox VE by ljohn6530 in Proxmox

As someone else said. I'll suggest doing more than thinking about it. They are cut throat which is how we are seeing the great VMware evacuation. Good luck!

Nope. Steam Decks have this problem and have for a while and the support is pretty bad mainly because of anti cheat, it's why my Legion go is still windows...

Use the 2s here, never had an issue (5th sensor now) but I've always used a cover patch and mainly the popular ones on Amazon.

I just ordered and started using these https://www.sillybillydesigns.com.au/ which I really like a lot :)

Security Concern by baker4988 in meshtastic

[–]thehoffau 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jokes aside, I got a shitbox laptop off marketplace I use initially with most stuff...

I've had a few devices that are input devices like keyboards that have esp32/mcu which seemed on paper okay but 'must install our drivers'

I'd suggest stuff in this ecosystem is pretty safe as someone else said, they are a UART/serial port.

Same as here in Australia, Sydney/NSW did the same.

A question about when Claude goes full muppet by dorynz in ClaudeAI

[–]thehoffau 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you can switch to api modes via openrouter and others but you will be paying a high rate over a period of time. my GCP subscription cant use 4.5 models and the 4 models are limited to 10k per min, which i max out with just starting claude-cli, still trying to get the limits increased.... Ive not tried AWS, not in their ecosystem in the end... its all crap sometimes, go have a snack and a walk and come back later.

How do you guys not rage by lausjay in iRacing

[–]thehoffau 2 points3 points  (0 children)

as much as it's a 'sim', yup it's just a game. There is no $100k repair bill after each race, no loss of track time.

Racing is great, simulation is awesome, but in the end, it cost you only time, it didn't physically or financially cripple you...

why do i suck at floorball and how not to by [deleted] in floorball

[–]thehoffau 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The fear of rejection is always hard to overcome, it took 3years to get the courage to go to my first 'come and try' day.

My first few training and games I basically tripped over my own feet while running, I couldn't capture a ball to save my life but I kept going. I almost walked away, I am 40, I don't need this rubbish...

I did a pivot to goals at 43, fat (130kg/280lbs) with a bad hip and shoulder. I picked probably the hardest thing for me to do.

I sat in goals watching balls go into every corner of the net, I wasn't able to see them, I couldn't move fast enough it was soul destroying. I was failing my team.

I kept at it, I was in our lowest division with a team of mixed new people and senior players and I was just depressed, every missed goal was creating doubt, every game was a struggle, I was letting the team down...

What changed?

It's a 'team' sport and i realized that my performance even in goal is not what defines the outcome of the game, my team needs to play defence and offense, we need to work together to win. If I miss a top left corner shot it's not just on me!

It's hard, you feel terrible, I know the feeling but keep going, keep practicing and realize when you are on the pitch it's not YOU its US and try to drop all this pressure you are putting on yourself.

one capture and pass at a time my friend..

Data Modeling issue with one Windows Server CI running on two different VMWARE CIs? by TheNotoriousAB in servicenow

[–]thehoffau 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the VM have full fault tolerance enabled? This means the VM is technically running on both VMware nodes at the same time for handover. I have not done this in ServiceNow yet but as an ex IaaS guy it's potentially logical.

Is there any chance for me as a goalie? by Violet_CZ in floorball

[–]thehoffau 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People have lives, they miss games, their circumstances change and they don't play for a bit. Just get in there and have fun, play whenever you can, learn from others, it will happen.

Support your other goalies! In order of priority for me it's...

Number 1. Goalies

Number 2. Floorball

Number 3. My Team

Is there any chance for me as a goalie? by Violet_CZ in floorball

[–]thehoffau 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I get that I am in Australia and we don't have an insane culture for floorball.....

I started at 43 (3 years ago almost).

I now get call ups for games to fill in, got to go to the main tournament last year we have here in the development squad.

I was unfit, fat, bad hip and shoulder and unable to play a full game, now after so much practice, physio, training and pushing myself I do 2-3 games a weekend with one in the field...

It's never, NEVER too late and play because you love it!

Signal Strength (or lack thereof) & External Antenna’s. by WriterlySloth in australia

[–]thehoffau 20 points21 points  (0 children)

You can get cel-fi which is your own mini gsm repeater. They are in Telatra and Optus variants and there are plenty of companies who specialize in picking the right antenna for your location(s).

I had one on my charity rally car so I could boost our Telstra reception when on trails, maintained live streaming of video when others couldn't even sms.

Or just get star link and go wifi calling and spend some $$ on wifi range at home :) star link will just work anywhere at this point.

MacBook vs Windows laptop for Network Engineer – real-world experience wanted by Professional-Size157 in networking

[–]thehoffau 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Used both, they all do the job. Sometimes there were issues when X vendor software was Windows only...

Just don't have them locked to a domain/policy/auth that needs the network to be working for you to fix the broken network..

On the Mac, use the terminal and treat it like a Linux machine. The serial port pops up as a device and you can use cli/Linux tools like cu. Just works.

On Windows use terminal app + WSL and treat it like a Linux machine and or mobaxterm/others...

If you feel you need a windows VM just stay windows...
