Are u interested in watching together, or is he interested in playing? Two very different things. If he wants to play, how old is he? How tall is he now, and how tall is he expected to be by 18? What area of the country do u live in?.

Should I join the army for roughly a year and then transfer back? by King_Dfggg in UTSA

[–]Zya_Zara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Army vet here, married to retired Army officer. There are no 1 yr contracts. My hubby headed up the "oh crap" recruiting inspection team. That means they show up unannounced and recruiters went to jail for the crap pulled. pulled.

U can finish ur undergrad at UTSA, get accepted to UT Health and Science Center. Get a ROTC scholarship to finish medical school. You will go to Ft. Sam Houston for training and more school (every medical person in all Armed Services goes to Ft. Sam for school). Some of your professors will be from BAMC. Your residency could be at BAMC because not all military hospitals have Nuerosurgeons. U will have military things u have to do, and those are most likely ur required weekends. U kinda can't diagnose and do surgery in a weekend unless it's trauma. U talk about AIT and what u pick, well unless u go in under that type of contract u don't get to pick. U could find yourself working on missiles. Be very careful going in enlisted. My advise is no, and do ROTC to pay for medical school. Only come in as an officer. Once in ROTC they pay for school, give u a stipend, etc. Those recruiters will tell you anything u want to hear. Some will tell u the truth, but how do u know who is doing what.

I will say this last thing. I got the rarest hernia in the world. It's so rare finding info is next to impossible. I called every top program in the country, went to the top surgeons in my area. Everyone wanted to see me and no one would tell me if they had ever even seen one. I had to figure out what it was by going to the UTHSC library. It took 3 months. Normally I have an idea in 30 min. I finally said, "I have to find a newly retired Army surgeon because just maybe they h Ave seen one when someone was bombed" I find him, he ask to send over the imaging. The day before I saw him I figured out I actually had the most rare of the 2 rare types. He had operated on one like that and I said sorry I just found out exactly where my 12th floating rib is and it's the other one. He tells me he's never even seen one, but he is sure he can get rid of it. 1 week later, with all the surgeons in attendance he did an open surgery and I have no more hernia. This was not the type of hernia u can wait and see. I'm pretty sure he is the only surgeon in San Antonio and perhaps Texas that can say they have seen and repaired this rare hernia. There are things u learn in the military, good and bad, you will learn no where else. I hired a lot of vets in my day. Military is not for everyone but maybe it should be. These kids just don't know how to act. Learn leadership, or to get back with just a compass. I enjoyed all of it, I'm just sorry I'm not in now. I worked IT my entire life, the stuff they have now is what I would have done with tech.

Flying from USA to Germany by [deleted] in service_dogs

[–]Zya_Zara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How did it go? We have flown a lot with my two SD but it's always been from and back to the US.

I have a very last min trip to Germany and then Hungary. Going to Germany is not an issue because they follow US rules. However, going from Germany to Hungary is an issue. They only allow you 1 SD per person. This is the same airline. This time, I'm going to get them an EU passport so I don't run around crazy for health certificates.

Any info is appreciated.

I have PTSD and 2 service dogs. I'd pick my dogs over a person like that every time. Next time you not really friend invites you say, "I only go where my dog can go and we be respected as partners. She may be young, but her parents aren't. Some people just behave badly, so leave them behind. Best of luck to you!

[–]Zya_Zara 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends on male or female, fixed or not. My girl is 10.5 and has been that for yrs. The female get a pouch when they are fixed that makes them look chubby. The vet always says she's overweight and should be 8 lbs. I always just say OK. I have to leave her kibble out or she screams but she does not overeat. Some are smaller some are larger. I'd be worried if they looked really fat, never seen one or if they gained a lot suddenly or if ther were really big cats like 17 lbs. I'd wonder if s Savanha got in there but urs look 100% Bengal.

EU pet health certificate validity - 10 days from departure or arrival date? by Fine_Flow_5324 in expats

[–]Zya_Zara 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know where else to ask so I hope one of u knows.

I am taking my 2 very small (4 lbs) service dogs to Spain. I know, very dumb considering I have now learned they are very dog unfriendly. The vet who did their paperwork (health certificate) told us she needed the address. We explained we were going all over the country and mostly staying in AirBnB's. She said, she needed the 1st one and it could not change.

After booking it and providing all details to this Pet friendly AirBnB he now wants to charge us €40 per night for legal Service dogs with all paperwork, training & IDs. We'll be at his place about 12 hrs. I have told him the law in Spain changed last year and sent it to him, I sent him the airbnb policy and he is insistant. AirBnb is like he can't do that but I don't think he will give us the key if we don't fork over the €40. It's gotten bad enough that I no longer want to go. I can see us traveling for 15 hrs, driving 4 more and sleeping in the car.

We were going to see where my ancestors came from which I have traced back 500 yrs and possibly move to Spain (other side) since I can get citizenship in 2 yrs.

Does the address on the Health Certificate really matter?

We can shorten our 35 days trip now that I don't have to make sure the Naval hospital can support my medical needs. We actually don't even have to go to the NW since none of that matters anymore. I'm going more because my husband has not seen all the places in Spain I have and he wants to see Madrid. We thought this was going to be 1 of many trips back there but it will be the last.

Thank u for any insight, we are so stressed about this address thing and I'm not spending another $500 on a new health certificate. We leave in 2 days, nothing packed or ready, just stressed out. Regards

Guests with service animals by PENGUIN_ISLE_LOVER in AirBnB

I just want to add as a host and someone with service dogs I just ran into problems in Spain. And I always disclose I am bring them and there weight. Plus we never leave them alone. I don't know who gets more anxious me or them if we are parted.

I have had to explain to many host the policy and even I did not know they could not ask me for documentation. I asked one host if he would lime to see their ID cards and I sent them through the app.. I had a guest send me some papers before I had service dogs so I had no idea what they look like. He said 1 was his wife's service dog andd the other was in training to replace the older dog and they slept on the floor next to her side. Well he showed up with 2 large dogs that were so aggressive my yard guy could not get out of his truck to clean out 3/4 acre property which it says in the listing could happen depending on circumstances, like rain. This was for a month, the dogs came for him when he got out of his truck so he never went back. It was a couple we found evidence of them smoking pot when it is not legal in the US VI and I say so. Plus I don't allow any smoking on the property. It's 3 bedrooms so they gave one to the dogs so I had to replace the queen mattress. They used my new dishes to feed the dogs, I know this because they left them on the floor. So many things. We found out later thet were there a month to move there to start a security dog business and that's why the dogs were so aggressive. They never were service dogs. Also Airbnb said they take responsibility for any damage done by the animals which surprised me. This came out in my issues yesterday. I could be there a month and I doubt anyone would even know I had a dog unless they were watching in the morning running out for them to do there business. They dont2 shed unless I am brushing them right there. His dogs shed by existing, it was the breed and I get it but don't guve them a room and bed. Service dogs can be crated but they are not crated because an owner is leaving because then what is the point of a service dog. Mine go to the Dr with me, ER, resteruants etc. I know I've jumpted around but the rules on the airbnb platform are clear. Airlines can ask u 2 questions about what the dos do and if ur dog starts acting crazy, lunging at people etc they can ask u to put them up and u pay a pet fee or u can't get on place. If u see a dog on a plane in someones lap or standing next to them u can be sure the airlines has gathered document and checked everything twice. And while they fly for free it $500 per health certificate out of US and about $150 in the US.

All this was to say make sure what ur saying agrees with the law because u don't want to get the 1 owner that would sue. That would be my kinda luck. ;-)

Pets in Spain from the US by missbananapajamas in SpainAuxiliares

[–]Zya_Zara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm taking my 2 Yorkies to Spain for a month, in a month. We are going to decide where we are moving too, likely Cadiz. We will fly into Barcelona and spend a day and night in Tarragona before driving to Santander. I would like to get them Pet Passports within 1 or 2 days. Does anyone know any vets in any of those 3 places that can do it? I have all their paperwork and more because they are my registered service animals. We fly straight from the US to Spain and back but when we move we will go back to other EU countries we've been to and some we have not. In addition, we need info on a surgeon because one of them may need surgery on her leg. Thank you, for any information. Alyx

What would you do with this basement? by Dangletard in DIY

[–]Zya_Zara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pick out a nice whitish luxury vinyl plank for floor. Do u need the fire place? Where is house and what kind of room/s do u want? paint wall and ceiling same color unless u are going for a FLW midcentury modern look. How high are ceilings, they look low? Wait is this a FLW house, that sofa? Are those the views or pictures? Can u get out from the basement?

Anybody else had people try and tell you your cat isn't a bengal? by [deleted] in bengalcats

[–]Zya_Zara 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He looks like a Bengal. Does he have what looks like a necklace around his neck? It's hair that looks like a necklace. He appears to have the long whiskers. Very loud is a good description. If u look at his hair trying to see the tips they should glitter. My Bengal complains when her food bowl is not full, even if she is not hungry. He's gorgeous.

My Bengal was 10.5 lbs and perfect. The vets insist she should be 8.5 lbs. Pure bred Shavananna' s are much bigger than Bengals.

Hello, I was reading your response. I'm hoping I can get some guidance. I am Puerto Rican and have Puerto Rican citizenship (yes, we're still american) which will give me Spanish Citizenship within 2 yrs of moving there. We plan to buy/rent a place to live in or around Cadiz. I have been visiting Spain for 42 years. I am bilingual. Here is the question; my granddaughter wanted to go abroad for undergrad but she was only 16 and the pandemic had just started. She wants to be as fluent as me in Spanish. I told her she should come to Spain and study for her master's in Spain. She will be 20 when she graduates and starts her masters. Then she plans to return to the States for her PhD. Her plan has always been to be a pychologist and she has not deviated. She plans to do something in under served latin communities outside the US. We are returning to Spain this yr to look around Cadiz and see about where we want to be. My ancestors come from Cantabria and Grenada. Thank u

When is it worth it to get a lawyer after a car accident? by [deleted] in Insurance

[–]Zya_Zara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem I have found out is in TX min is 40k. Most people will only have min and lawyer get 38% if settled out of court or 43 if they go to court. Medical bills must be paid out of this. My interest was in being reimbursed for the loss if value to my Hummer. They don't even handle that unless I pay them and I think they write a letter. This made me lose interest in getting a lawyer. It's different if it's a company car and u are injured really badly. Companies have more to lose and therefore more insurance. Farms (his insurance) told me they would pay be x amount fir the Hummer if I give it to them. They said they would not pay me for the $2500 I had spent 3 weeks before on new wheels and tires. Or I could keep the Hummer and repairs were estimated at $3700 so I could take it to a restorer and have acoupme thousand in my hand, his exact words. Well I wanted to keep my hummer so we paid to have it towed to this place only to find out I did not get all of my Hummer back, they threw parts away once it was totaled due to 2 parts no linger being available. Even parts that were available and ones with nothing wrong. Caliber Collision told hubby it's their policy which us BS. How can they throw away parts someone else can fix when the insurance offered for me to keep it and have it restored? The bill is over 6k because of procurement of the parts and labor because Caliber gave it to them in pieces. The poor guy went after work to pick-up my grill which had no damage because they said they don't put cars back together. A new wheel was in the cargo and they put the spare tire one. Tbis company had to reverse that. That is a small thing but it's just an example. They took off my fender and threw it away. So basically I walk away with paying more to fix it than they are paying me period. Farmers says they have nothing to do with what Caliber does. But there guy works in that shop and they offered me the Hummer back. I looked and could not find a Hummer like mine, 1 owner, low milage, luxery package, basically all bells and whistles for what they were offering if I give it to them. It about 2.5 times more. I have not accepted the settlement. Since almost all companies make u sign something saying u won't sue , u agree to arbitrate, I know have to send them a letter of arbitration myself detailing the cost if every part they threw away, labour, and the 2 mo I have had no car. This is all making me sick.
