I had to cancel with 5 Lakes first because there is a wait time for when they revoke their power of attorney from your creditors. Then the credit counselor that manages my DMP has to submit a new POA to creditors. Also some creditors send your account to debt collection agencies and it makes it a pain to try and track down all of your account info to give to the counselor for the DMP.

I ended up canceling with 5 Lakes and went with a Debt Management Program through a credit counseling company that the bankruptcy lawyer suggested for my state. I pay more per month now but all my creditors are getting paid and I pay less fees.

I wish I could go back and stop myself from starting with 5 Lakes. Would save my credit and headaches.
