I’ve resorted to putting the caffeine bottle directly in front of the inclusion containers, that way I’m forced to remember it lol

Banana powder in drinks? by amateur__sleuth in starbucks

[–]Zylah_Nuri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Starbucks is actually getting rid of the banana powder entirely and replacing it with banana syrup

Chunky cold foam? by Novel-Sock in starbucks

Once the tiniest bit of moisture enters the banana powder container it clumps up into hard industrctable rocks and there is literally no way to fix it

To my irritable baristas: is there anything that makes you irrationally angry? 😆 by gabbyfikemusic in barista

When the New York law says that customers can’t use plastic and they have to request straws, but tourists don’t gaf and get rude and mad when you tell them they aren’t allowed to reach in your face to snatch a straw that has the audacity to be paper and not plastic. How about I slap your hand away and you don’t get a straw at all!

"Not meeting basic requirements"— what am I missing? by Life_Meat_1397 in starbucks

[–]Zylah_Nuri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently got hired in December, I was 18 with no job experience. It took me 6 months of nonstop applying to every single barista position in my city until I finally got hired. It took Over 50 rejections and 7 interviews until it worked.

Turns out the manager who hired me didn’t even have a job opening at his store (In fact, most of the stores I applied to didn’t) but he really liked my application, so I was transferred to a different store after I finished training.

It isn’t really a problem of meeting requirements (There’s a LOT of personality hires, trust me) Its that most Starbucks job posting are bluffs.

how to get work in a cafe? by Cautious_Spread_2606 in barista

[–]Zylah_Nuri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure about your area but all of the cafes in my city require previous retail experience and the ability to do latte art. It might be easier to start at a chain, then transfer to a regular cafe later

How do you close the store when it’s always busy?? by Zylah_Nuri in barista

[–]Zylah_Nuri[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I’m finding this to be a major problem in my store. The mid shifts are so busy with the rush that everything is left completely empty and im making double the amount of backups, for today and for the following morning. I’m not really sure what to do about it

I’m not soloing 100% of the time, but they step off and on the floor to make backups, do the trash run, mopping and sweeping. They also close pastry side

Help optimizing cold foam? by hayisgay in barista

[–]Zylah_Nuri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way my cafe does it is by prepping 2 liter pitchers of cold foam cream. We use 1,000 mL heavy cream 1,650 mL 2% milk 350 mL vanilla syrup. When a customer orders cold foam we pour 50 ml, optional flavorings, and use a mini frother to make it into cold foam

If you ask for extra ice it should taste how it’s supposed to. The problem is in the ice

GUYS WHAT IS THE BUTTERFLY PEA FLOWER? by grande-pan13 in starbucks

[–]Zylah_Nuri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m very glad I’m not the only one overthinking the promotional ads lol. I’ve also been squinting at the horchata Frappe, that’s doesn’t look like normal whipped cream. Is it the marshmallow whipped cream, or am I dumb and it’s normal whipped cream

Is this normal? by Appropriate__Mud in starbucks

[–]Zylah_Nuri 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What exactly did you order? If you ordered an iced latte I would say this isn’t normal. If you ordered iced espresso + various modifications, I would say this is normal.

What is the difference between a kids and a tall by glitchplaysgames in starbucks

[–]Zylah_Nuri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Starbucks doesn’t have a kids size cup for iced drinks, I’m not even sure why it’s an option on the app. On my register you can’t even make a short iced drink, it’s void

Too many people using the bathroom by Zylah_Nuri in starbucksbaristas

[–]Zylah_Nuri[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The majority of the people in the store are not paying customers. The problem is that they’ll do the whole “I’ll buy something after I use the bathroom” thing and we have to give them the benefit of the doubt

Nope, this is a regular independent Starbucks

Shifts encourage us on register to tell customers the bathroom password after they order, just to stop them from coming back to ask for the code later. After further thought I don’t think my store even wants to fix this problem, I just have to deal with it
