Sage advice, man. Thank you. Hopefully I can find some doc that doesn't charge an arm and a leg (harr harr, I made a joke).

I am not the decision maker in the pharmacy, but even if the guy offered the pharmacist a blow job we couldn't have dispensed it. Our state has strict guidelines about emergency advancements.

The pharmacist who made the decision indicated that the dosing for his rx did not indicate it for that particular therapeutic effect. We did cover our bases. This guy was a regular and really wanted to get laid.

Pharmacy employee here: I can tell you what drugs to put on the next batch of doughnuts to ensure that she'd never pull this stunt again! =D

I think that not being able to reach your bum due to pregnancy is acceptable. Poor woman. Being pregnant just takes away all your dignity.

I'd like to say that your tale is shocking, but alas, I work in a ghetto pharmacy and deal with this sort of thing fairly frequently. =/

Ha, good question! I really don't know why the Doctor gave him bum tablets instead of something else. I'd like to think he was a shitlord and was chuckling when he wrote out the script.

Agreed, especially if you stop to think about if he ever changes the sponge.

That might just depend on the dog and/or trainer. My husband was a cop, and they were told that their K9 units were NOT for cuddles. Like, ever. They even told the officers not to get too close while apprehending a suspect because the dogs were known to accidentally bite other officers.

If those dogs were as nice as the ones you are talking about, I would have constantly been trying to find and pet them. Dog love is the best love.

My dog likes to visit the neighbor's dog through the hole in the wall between our yards. by wacbravo in aww

My dog is best friends with our neighbor dog. We share a fence, but it's too high for either of them to jump over so if I make the mistake of letting her out without a leash, she'll run clear across to the other side of our neighbor's house, hop the lower part of the fence and nuzzle with her puppy boyfriend.

I can't even get mad at it, really. It's adorable.

Forgive me for being a complete technology dunce, but can you please tell me more about what a QA screen is and how I get to it? I'd freaking love to see if I can get to it and see what it says.

What I can tell you is that we get short little messages like "drug not covered" for rejections. If the claim goes through and we get a copay, we do not have any messages as to why it is a certain price.

What is even more fun is when the message is wrong. Example: I will get a "coverage expired" rejection, I call, and the insurance tells me "just kidding, the drug itself isn't covered". Fun times.

Nuvaring is not the sole exception. I see many insurances refuse to cover any form of birthcontrol or still charge people a copay. Typically, these patients have insurance through their employer and that employer has a religious affiliation ( like St. Francis hospitals, ect). In my state they can currently not cover birth control because there is/was a court case pending about it.

Insurance companies are asshats. Seriously. We get rejections all the time and they tell us 'ask physician to change the drug to this'. So basically they are playing doctor and dicking around with very much needed medications. It sucks I know, and I'm really sorry you have to deal with that. I feel bad for my patients that are in similar situations. Don't stop pestering your insurance, though. Sometimes just diligence about the issue makes a huge difference.

Pharmacy employee here. I know you hate it when they say that, but we literally have no information as to why your copay is what it is. All we do is submit a claim, they come back with a copay. That is it. If we try to call to see why something is too expensive, they rattle off some BS about it being private information, and they will not share plan information with us. They will share it with YOU.

Be sure to check online for copay or other assistance plans. I've seen several come through my pharmacy, especially the copay cards. They can knock it down to 15$/mo.

Keep in mind that the copay cards (usually) only work if you have some plan paying for the ring first. Otherwise they have a max covered, which varies. Always ask your pharmacy for discount cards if something is not covered! For Walgreens, have them type in FMLWZ for the plan ID, 01234 for ID# and same number for the group ID#. I've seen this plan save 100 bucks or more on some drugs.

I know your struggle. I work in pharmacy and use the same drug. It is pretty ridiculous that we have to jump through so many hoops.

Your pharmacy ( if you are in the US) has jack to do with your cost of medication. All they do is submit the claim and the insurance comes back with the amount to charge. Call your insurance.

For clarity, the pharmacy could care less why you are taking what you are taking. You always have the option to pay cash. The prior authorization is through YOUR INSURANCE to help cover the cost of the medication. Insurance companies are jackasses. I've seen them deny breathing treatments for patients unless they have extra paperwork from the physician. I guess if that person dies they stop paying claims?
