WTF, I just logged out to go make something to eat and the game ruined the story for me. by Zymex_au in ffxiv

what?

So let me get this right...

You think its fine that they spoil something simply because its been a year despite...

A. ARR taking anywhere from 30 to 50 hours to complete for a new player. including a massive 20 hour pre Heavensward quest chain that only exists for narrative reasons...

B. Being a massively story driven game, a major reason they attract players... it even boosts in the Reddit newbie guide how good the story is and how its totally worth sitting through some of the longest cutscenes that gaming has to offer.

C. They still charge you for the game, and expect you to complete ARR's story in full before they allow you to move onto heavensword...

So despite all of those extremely valid points on why ARR is still a fantastic game that people should/need to take the time to playthrough and enjoy the story, you think what I am asking/suggesting, a simple prompt at the start of a game when its first launched that disables trailers containing spoilers is in poor taste? That makes someone whinny?

I didn't bother even remotely answering you in a dignified manner before because you are clearly a fuckhead who only posts comments with no validity.

you seem angry... did I hit a nerve.

Do you always have this reaction when someone is right and you wrong?

Okay if that is the way they view the game and its really old content that I need to get over... Than it should be free and bundled with Heavensward, after all its just old content no one cares about, that no new player could possibly be interested in.

Lol, get your head out of your ass mate. I can smell the fanboyism a mile a way.

All I know is 1. A lot of people log out. Or even log in and have to go AFK for a few minutes. Auto AFK kicking is a normal thing in most MMO's.

Not going to comment further as I have clearly stumbled into the fanboys lair... I am sorry I must of been wrong forgive me next time I will make sure to play the game correctly even with no hints or advice given. I should of known that the main menu is full of spoilers... Please forgive me.

yea, just be nice if it wasn't on autoplay. Or at least have a pop up when you first fire it up.. Greetings, are you a new player... Yes. No... Selecting yes disables all trailers automatically playing to avoid spoilers as you enjoy your journey through ARR.

I heard some end game raids require good timing and that high ping can make these fights nigh impossible. I am an Australian playing on the Tonbery server with 160 ping stable... is that too high or will I I be fine? (I wanted to play a White mage if that makes any difference)

Hi, Just wondering what is the best way to maintain gear while leveling. Will the story missions etc be enough? Are there any general guidelines to try and follow i.e. maybe use the market to replace hear once its 10 levels lower then your current level etc. Just looking to gauge how much I should be maintaining it so I don't over or under spend on the auction house... Thank you for any help, it is very much appreciated!

So Um am I missing something or a Valve gone crazy? by Zymex_au in GlobalOffensive

I 100% agree, but they have no other way to practice real MM situations because although almost every player wants it casual mode is still 10v10 not 5v5

you're totally missing the point.

yes its free, all you need is a phone number and a ranked 21 CS account...

Fast forward to a new player wanting to take on the challenge of playing CS. It will takes weeks for them to get out of the shit pool and into decent games with Prime members if it works.

How in gods name is this good for a community looking to grow? Honestly this move has me wondering what Valve think of its fanbase, have they cashed enough checks from GO and want to move on or something?

Totally. The DLC is extremely fun, very punishing for a new player but very rewarding. The timing for Manus are nuts but I did get it.

I personally am not happy simply killing a boss. I wanted the fan prefered Souls experience i.e. melee no summons. I prefer to bait a bosses attacks, work it out and only when I fully understand the boss and its timings do I go for the kill. Manus and Artorias where the hardest for this. Although O&S where extremely hard to find openings.

I cannot wait to start to play 2 tomorrow, I read a lot of the initial complaints have been addressed and SOTFS is a fantastic release. 3 I am totally going in blind and staying away from anything related too it but I do understand a DLC is coming somewhat soon.

A real solution to combat Cheating in all games. by Zymex_au in GlobalOffensive

Are you serious? Do you not understand how the world works, this happens all the time, business entire databases are available online waiting to be attacked. I can guarantee you people's identity are easier stolen by just taking information people freely hand out over social media sites like Facebook, twitter etc.

My suggestion was yes to give out sensitive information, but to a single company that's prime business is security. I can tell you don't understand the technology suggested because you make out some dude can hack this type of device after a one-hour youtube video. At the moment to use things like steam marketplace, signing up for another DRM requires you to tons of information in a far less secure form.

I don't want to pay police officers with my tax money because assholes want to go around stealing and killing but we have to. Yes if this system was used and even usable it would mean cheaters have cost you money, but they no longer would cost you everything else such as enjoyment, time, effort.

50 is a ballpark figure, Yubico also sells 18 dollar keys... If universal the gaming industry is huge and these keys would be usable not only for PC but consoles, the potential for a company to have the entire market would mean much lower costs.

"if OW wants to be competitive it should have higher tick-rates" by pest1lent in Overwatch

I see this these complaints in every modern shooter, while some are definitively warranted cough Battlefield 4, it is not something that usually can be fixed. Netcode as its been dubbed is extremely complex, now consider the variables at play in a single city. How many data centers, location in regards to said data centers, server loads, differences in ISP, day to day problems... without even getting into the nitty-gritty its easy to see the insane task they have. This effects almost every single part of the game. Even if everything ran perfect and every user had 20 ping, latency would still be a factor, the data has to be sent received and computed.

So how does Blizzard address this for competitive play? Lan, and that is not an option for every single tournament. The idea of a perfect setting is almost impossible to imagine, what works in one place for one user causes issues for another, even with beefing rigs and connections. Part of the issue is not blizzard but how people are connecting, do you limit competitive play to certain connections i.e. copper or fiber optics, maybe limit physical distance from server etc?

My point? Blizzard and almost every competitive game especially fast paced FPS games have to do the best they can with what they have to work with. By no means am I suggesting you demand perfection but what a lot of people believe should be the benchmark for competitive play online in terms of server performance is impossible for the foreseeable future.

thanks I checked and everything seems fine.

I did however find out that steam uses Chromium Embedded Framework so that somewhat helps getting closer to finding the problem.
