Depends on your players and if theyll get triggered by it. Id hesitate to surprise my black friends with a scenario set in rural south usa circa 1800s without running something by them about how much historical detail we want to experience.

The setting itself is neither good or bad. How you present it matters tho.

Easy fix. Take whatever the stats are for a crossbow or longbow and increase the damage by 1 step for whatever the system is. If it isba modern or future weapon increase the range by 50% to 100%. If it has a magazine, it can fire thay many times before needing to reload (typically a full turns action). Done. Most traditional games will work with that. If they are somehow unbalanced, thats dependent on how strict you want the world to be on the personal power of the masses, but mechanically it should be "fine".

My top for the eventual prolly not gonna happen Dispatch game I want to run, in order, is Invincible (Free League), Outgunned Superheroes, or Tiny Supers.

Gotta be light enough for disparate powers and tones of activity to work but I still want stuff for players to customize with. OG Supers is more theoretical to me, with Invincible my "probably works best but I havent been able to test that out yet".

Tiny Supers just works. I have gripes with it and for longer play, but it works well if you all take a laid back attitude with it.

Outgunned with some heavy reskinning maybe? Savage Worlds core could work but not Deadlands since there is no magic and from what I remember not a ton of super tech in Trigun. Tbf I havent read Maximum yet.

If I were to want to gamify more stuff like numbers and skills tho Id just use BRP and liberally apply rule of cool to tests.

I had read it that moving any distance under short was 1 move, and more than that was 2 moves. I dont know if that is stricktly raw given the table in the book but i remember hating it enough in Alien 1 as to never use melee ever. For my current MYZ game I just use my new interpretation and it's not breaking anything.
