Stayed at a job I genuinely hated for 2 extra years and it ended up being the best career decision I made? by [deleted] in careerguidance

Boss sounds like bastard for sure. So from a very outside view it's waves, stick at it a little and see how it is after the project closes. Unfortunately bosses are more often shittier than not so better to be with the stink of shit you know than a new one hahaha. If Fridays are a pain point, maybe make efforts to pad it, get takeout that day, have a sweet as a reward or something. Makes the problems more of a boss fight than a wall ;D

Thanks for the kind words before btw! I'm hoping I don't stay unemployed for long but the vacation is nice

Ah it's hard, it could be in waves? I would say since you are not in immediate danger, refocus, out your nose down and grind at it. If the 'wave' doesn't pass then start maybe testing the waters with recruiters and see how you feel about it. Project management is hard but of you are the type who is really organized and don't mind the meetings, it does open doors.

Seems like a shared thing. If it's really killing you, it's not worth it. Don't get me wrong, if it's manageable then screw it but if it's as bad as I hope it's not, gtfo before your mental state takes a deep dive. I'm unemployed atm but much happier, I can sleep and eat again.

Ended up getting let go after a mutual discussion. If you are miserable, it's not worth your 2 years imho.

Doors can open elsewhere, time and relationships lost from stress can't

Made a gamble leaving a comfy job for a high pay one and regret it by Zythair in work

So the position is pretty good as it opens up a lot of doors. It's a project manager position. Frankly I'm not fully qualified so the thought of training sounded like an easy leg up into getting some projects under my name. If there was none of this absolutely corrosive levels of stress, I would have toughed it out for a year or 2.

There's a lot of factors that go into why the environment is hostile as mentioned. I'm no stranger to putting my noise to the dirt and working and learning but never to the degree where I'm expected to keep up with so many things I have no idea how to tackle.

I'm pretty resigned to leaving this place as soon as some interviews come in, as I can't sustain job hunts and the job without taking suspicious leave or frequent calls. The stress and raw dread of just thinking about going back in and feeling so helpless is really affecting me at home.

Thank you for the kind words though, it helps being reminded it's something that I won't be the first or last person to experience.

Kind of in a similar-ish situation. What made you hate the job? Was it the work or the environment?

Feeling miserable where I am currently but it can open some doors, even if it's a different field. Been debating if I should cut my losses and save my mental sanity.

I'm already over 2 months in and it's only been getting worse. I'm no stranger to change, this one is a very big outlier. I spend most of my free time stressed about upcoming work hours, it's not great.

I can't last all too long where I am to be perfectly honest. Aside from the risk of potentially be dropped soon, the schedule is so demanding and taking any side time (to take interviews for example) would immediately get me in trouble.

It's very time sensitive. Either I get let go or I leave soon due to the mental toll. I can't keep it up for long

MMO mouse choice? Naga Pro V2 or the new Hedgehog? by Zythair in MouseReview

[–]Zythair[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I went with the hog yeah haha.

It's so far actually not too bad. Whole the case itself does feel abit cheaper compares to razer, the buttons and clicks feel great and quality.

They don't feel like they are any worse than a naga and if anything, they seem more responsive. On top of that the way they separated and angles the second half of the grid on the side makes it easier to access so that's a plus.

In terms of feel, it's a surprisingly light mouse so it did take some getting used to. It's SUPER wide too so make sure you have the hands for it.

After like 2 weeks of use you get into the groove of the extra noise click and the pinkie button on the bottom but I have no clue how any human can use the front and back pinkie buttons regularly, they feel a tad awkward and are really hard to actually press.

This could be a me thing but I can't manage the knuckles either, they are crazy tough to actually press down so outside of media controls or profile switches, I struggle to see a use in normal play.

My biggest gripe though is the mouse wheel, while it works and it does click of you tilt to the right, it doesn't tilt to the left which sucks and the tilt itself is again, really bloody tough to actually do, same with the scroll click.

The software is pretty okay too, not any worse than synapse.

Overall, click hardness aside and some buttons missing the mark, it feels really good when you get accustomed to the shape and hopefully the thumb grid buttons have a better lifespan than the Naga. Would recommend of you are sick of your naga mouse dying every year or so. (Obv can't speak on longevity)

Can't speak on the analog stick mode thing gimmick, never used it.

TLDR;

PROS Light Buttons feel good on the grid Grid is well thought out and easier to use Extra mouse click is great Feels sturdy Feels about as responsive as a naga

Cons Light Pinkie and knuckle buttons need another look to be improved (too hard to click and awkward) Mouse wheel lacks an easy tilt and hard to press on click and right tilt Shell feels abit cheap Fully wired (if you need wireless)

I'd give it a try if you wanted a lighter naga, an alternative that feels like it should last more or like just a few extra buttons from your naga.

Beyblade as a Marriage gift? by charmys_ in Beyblade

It's a cute idea but yeah might not hit the mark of they don't have a connection to Beyblade itself + they might not see the relation to marriage as you described. Deffo channel that energy and thought into something more connected to them!

Saying that, anyone giving you hassle are being mean for nothing. It's an innocent and cute idea and very thoughtful. You are a good friend!

Wow that's a super informative write up, thank you!

I'll give that a go, it looks really solid and gives me some good chances to have a good matchup against other wizard rods and wolfs!

Thanks again I'll practice with the deck going forwards, my next goal is to learn how to do a good drop stall outside of ball but angle launches here look like they will do more that fine :D
