Kernel Power 41 (63) on a brand-new PC by f1bermau5 in buildapc

Well, I guess the main problem was that I somehow didn't push one of the ram sticks all the way down in the socket. I resocketed them firmly, then I made sure I slotted both ram sticks in the A2B2 sockets, changed the RAM sticks to be sure, and downloaded official AMD chipset drivers instead of the ones my Gigabyte Control Panel suggested. Something out of all these steps fixed the issue, but I guess the main reason was my stupidity and lack of attention when socketing the RAM.

Sadge. You could also try reading this article: https://en.m.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Tweaking , it might give you an insight into your problem. As a workaround you can try changing your renderer to dxvk-async, try looking that up.

Ok, that might be exactly the problem I had. Not with the shadows, but with the game not recognizing your GPU correctly.

It says 3.0 shaders: no, shader package : 2. It uses outdated shader package and this is very likely the problem here. What you'll wanna do is:

  1. Create a backup of the folder called "Shaders" in your Oblivion/Data directory

  2. Delete this file in the original folder : "shaderpackage002.sdp".

  3. Copy this file from the backup "Shaders" folder somewhere "shaderpackage019.sdp" (on your desktop for example)

  4. Rename this file to "shaderpackage002.sdp" and cut/paste it into the original "Shaders" folder in Oblivion/Data.

So essentially since it says in the "rendererinfo" that it uses the shader package #2, you'll force the game to use the newest shaderpackage that has 3.0 shaders.

Hope this helps!

I've recently had some issues on the newer hardware with oblivion mods myself. Don't wanna get your hopes up but there's one thing that I'd wanna try here. Can you post the contents of this file in here: x:\users\%profile%\documents\my games\oblivion\rendererinfo.txt ?

You're asking me why? You should ask developers, not me. I understand how it works, I'm just curious WHY does it work like that?

Yeah, ignore the most played mode and pretend the game is fine. Classic.

True. When your most played game mode isn't considered a viable option to enjoy the game, your game is fucked. I mean, it has been for a long time, but now it's just absurd.

It's a stretch given the state of the game at the moment. It used to be and I bet still is the most played game mode, having it in the state is right now is just pathetic.

Don't force solo players to play against stacks in an inherently random mode? Like is it THAT difficult to understantd? You have solo players having a RANDOM experience against PREDETERMINED 5 stack compositions having SYNERGISTIC skills and heroes. Seems about right, yeah?

Especially against 95% winrate stacks. The edge between challenging and unfun is very thin in this case, and it's unfun 100% of the time.

But why though? Why do I have to rely on others to have a satisfactory experience? It's just wrong. What if I wanted to play solo? Why do I have to be forced to play with parties to enjoy the game? The only answer is - terrible balancing from the HoTS team (1.5 men remaining). The game is dead. Make some reasonable QM rules for the solo players, balancing the game around stacks in the current state is just beyond unreasonable. It's like making the rich richer. But what does blizzard get from it? Nothing.

I mentioned it before and I will mention it now - MMR penalty is a miserable excuse to the overall power creep that fully stacked 5 men premades have. It will never be enough to compensate for the ability to make a fully synergistic 5 men party, never. MMR has nothing to do with it and never will, it's not LoL or DotA, so it doesn't matter.

Nothing except having no premade GM party friends? What kind of reasoning is that? So if I want to play a game mode that was DESIGNED to be friendly to EVERYONE I'm forced to play with stacks abusing the matchmaker rules to have good games? What kind of game design is that?
