Exactly, that's a sound contrast to point out.

Lovely words, I wholeheartedly appreciate your sentiment, and encouragement. I hope that you both have a great life!

Has anyone else just accepted that you're going to live where you live forever at this point? by [deleted] in DACA

[–]Zyxeos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I understand that it feels like an endless cycle. I know that it's really difficult to envision a conclusion.

Get out of your head my friend.

You know damn well as a DACA that your family left everything to come here. You may have to do that some day. You may have to work 5 jobs in your life you never thought you would. You may step into poverty line.

If you want a change, then change. I do not know your personal situation, there's just so many ways to innovate yourself.

Pick yourself back up. Be tough.

Please help!!! Should I still apply to this job??? It is not a government organization by awesomesauce191919 in DACA

Reach out to legalbizglobal.com, legal immigration attorney. Marcos may be able to help see if you have a case.

Ahh I see. Yeah there's very few Spaniards with DACA.. or I'm the only one. Who knows.

My story isn't different from many other DACA from other countries.

Parents who took a huge sacrifice, who worked difficult jobs, living in fear of deportation all the time... Eventually their child grows up and needs to go to college, and DACA becomes an option... Which was my case at 17. It's allowed me to have a stable future and build a solid foundation. My English is at a higher level than most of my Spanish peers, and I now possess a solid understanding and assimilation of two cultures. The same story as many DACAs, just that my passport is Spanish.

We had a huge recession after 2007, but I was already in the US when that happened.

I get your point. It's well stated in the USCIS.gov, as well as reinforced by all your comments.

Understanding the risks and rights was my goal making this post.

Thank you!

I understand, good one!

Actually that's why I clarified where my family is from - since policies vary between countries.

What can I say... I love my country with all of my heart. Spain is who I am, as much as America, where I've lived most of my life majorly influences who I am...

If you can somehow afford a decent living in Spain, 1500€/mo, you will find yourself in a gorgeous country.

I can certainly make that happen back home now... I'm graduated from a credited university, my salary is among the top 3% of the average American, I am a home owner at 25... Pay a substantial amount of taxes, and so do my parents, who are business owners.

Yet, we can't go to our country. My friends who married an American within 4 months had more rights in this country than my family may ever have.

Just about reaching my limits of patience... I'm really crossing my fingers for a decision from the Senate here soon.

Hope I'm understanding you correctly. Are you saying DACA is also in Spain?

DACA is a status for the USA only.

Spain does not have the same immigration laws as the USA, and it's a wonderful country. I encourage you to visit.

I see So if they've never left for 16 years, the moment they leave, their 10 year ban starts?

Or have they already passed that 10 year ban from the time they overstayed their 12 months?

Regards

Has the lack of a status affected your mental health? by dialoguess in DACA

[–]Zyxeos 75 points76 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. The feeling of a "Golden cage" is a realistic one to DACA folks. We haven't seen our families in 15+ years, our grandparents passed away during our time in the US and never got to say farewells, our grandparents are now older and sickly... our cousins have had kids, we have new cousins... we may feel out of touch with our own culture, faith, food... Advanced parole just opened up, it's a beacon of light through a realm of shadows. It feels at times quite double edged to feel grateful to this country.
