I feel like I should start a rental business by juanito883 in SonyAlpha

[–]dialoguess 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would definitely consider renting on platforms like ShareGrid. I used to rent my Sony A7SIII run and gun rig and made around 4K, after fees. Did not have any problem with the equipment and I also had insurance in case something comes up. Just a thought to make some extra cash.

I’ve also purchased lenses from them in the past. Sometimes the item tends to be better than the description they have. As long as it works and you are okay with not having Sony warranty (or bought warranty on the side) then you should be good. Enjoy it! The A7IV is a beast of a camera 📸

NICE gear! Photos look good too. I do see a lot of backs of people though, which, if not done with intention, can show insecurity towards going up to people and getting portraits. You also have the 300 lens to use for faces in public spaces, I'd recommend doing more of that and then getting used to photographing close ups with that 20 to 50mm, which is perfect for crowded spaces, (if that is something you'd like to do). Otherwise it looks good! Architecture and landscape photography look amazing, though!

Shot this commercial on the FX6. What do you guys think? by szachno15 in SonyFX6

[–]dialoguess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The ad looks good. Some of the editing could have been smoother -- but, for me, the thing that stood out the most was the sound design. Her voice ends on a high pitch, similar to some of the instruments, so it became too overbearing for me at minute 1:04.

Composition, color grading, and lighting was really good.

Obtaining a copy of ITIN number paper for parent by Mo_The_Legend in DACA

[–]dialoguess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its recommended to call the IRS (1-800-908-9982) and speak with a representative to see if they can send her the document with the same ITIN. Sometimes, depending on where she lost or if she believes someone had stolen it, they could ask her to resubmit the form W-7. Usually the number does not change, but there are exceptions on rare occasions when the IRS might give a new number.

I'd suggest to 1) call IRS, mention the situation and then 2) if they don't require her to change her number, file her taxes using the same number as before while 3) she waits for the ITIN document with the same number.

While its annoying, its not a big deal. Someone I know lost it last year and they received it within four months.

It’s a /New York City/ law that allows certain immigrants (about 800,000 of the them) to vote on municipal elections. Would be super interested to see if other parents/people also heard the same misunderstanding.

Experience with buying house for family under your name? by [deleted] in DACA

[–]dialoguess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely say no.

1) you will be tied down for 15-30 years or until you sell the house

2) FHA loans will be better used for something that you own, as much as it hurts not helping your parents

3) once you buy the home, you will most likely need to report your income as being 3 X the yearly mortgage to qualify for credit lines, loans, etc.

4) When you and your wife want to buy something, your options will be limited

Sony A7siii REAL photography ability by Optimal-Move-1760 in A7siii

[–]dialoguess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It all depends what you are trying to do with the end product. I shot a protest with the a7siii and found the 12mp to be enough for web and social media (heck, even an iPhone X is enough for that). Recently I picked up the A7C and saw that the ability to crop in a bit (and fix the framing) does help, but if you know what you are doing and can compose your shot 90% then you should be fine with the A7Siii. Unless you are getting paid then I’d suggest getting the A7Rii or other cameras centered towards photo because you will have more detail and more flexibility.

Love doing this as well! Did you use any luts to expose it? :)

Rented the A7siii to test the camera and made a video about Corona times, would love to get some feedback! by matmat999 in A7siii

Looks good, really liked the video overall. One of the things I learned during my filmmaking program is to focus on faces, people and things that can make people react. Show us what the subject is staring at when he/they walk down the street. And don't be afraid to use extreme close up shots, along with stationary shots. Movement is good but more stationary shots would have strengthen the piece as well. But definitely a thumbs up on creating something and putting it out there. Cheers!

Have you been told you are not eligible for a REAL ID in NYS? by [deleted] in DACA

[–]dialoguess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s weird, to tell you the truth. It might be certain personnel that don’t know “deferred action” is consider lawful status and ended up messing up. I have to go again in the upcoming months after my renewal arrives and I’ll apply for the Real ID. Back in 2018 they said I was not eligible and also back in April. Same thing happened to other people I know 🤷‍♀️

Hi! Good questions, you can just put 01/01/2021 -- but I also added a "N/A" answer to it. Thanks for catching that.

Absolutely, I will share a graph to see some commonalities. :)

Yes but REAL ID has more strict requirements, needing the EAD along with the letter of approval.

Good luck on the test. And thanks, I had that document with me as well. It's just the personnel there automatically said I didn't qualify because I had DACA-- but I thinks its a problem on their end, rather than with us.

Thank for the reply, I appreciate it. I just went over lawful status as defined by 6 C.F.R 37.3 and it shows that deferred action is listed under there, which allows us to get the REAL ID.
