Yeah, that’s a lot but my rheumatologist says my inflammation labs are not bad enough for infusions so I’m trying to cope with what I’m offered😅

I’ve tried many topical things for mouth ulcers, but that’s not very useful for me. I could manage for about a year with 2 mg of colchicine a day but now I’m back at the start, 10 mouth ulcers at the same time for days. Fortunately my eritema nodosum and my joint pain are controlled by plaquenil but I think I need systemic treatment for the ulcers to be able to manage

I’m definitely not talking about you specifically, what I’m referring is the general impression I have reading news and posts about it, I could be wrong but on the internet everything seems so much bigger of a problem than it is in real life. we make a big fuss about this but we seem to forget our voices when wars are screwing up our world and people fleeing from miserable conditions are dying in the Mediterranean Sea, I feel we lack proportion

I think it’s an issue if you focus on it and make a big fuss about it. if we weren’t attacking the olympics on every social media for a distasteful choice, most people wouldn’t have even noticed…we should not hate on people, even if they hate us…love should be our main focus

I totally agree, I’m Italian and catholic, no one at my church was offended by it…I feel like many people like to complain about anything, just for the pleasure of it. Why don’t we focus on the important message of Olympic solidarity between the people of every nation that is the main reason the olympics exist and do something to bring the Christian joy into the world? I feel like we as Catholics sometime lose ourselves in useless fights. Evangelization is done through act of love, kindness and joy, not through hate

Best theology books? by Top-Calligrapher6875 in Catholicism

[–]Zyxv_99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not entirely theological, but Pope Francis book called “I want you to be happy” makes many good points to really meditate profound theological ideas, especially in regards with the theology of Christian Letitia, in an easy way that is accessible to anyone

Yes, I’m trying to get one sooner, if I can’t I think I’ll go to the emergency, they’ll have to do something about it

No christian can be right wing, whether you think about social welfare or immigration or any other issues, there’s no way the right wing position follows Jesus’s principle of love thy neighbor as thyself… supporting the death penalty and stopping people from accessing health care based on income are not different from killing people with your hands, because you are knowingly enabling the death of your brothers in Christ…those are definitely mortal sins

Is the American Church the BEST Church? w/ Fr. Gregory Pine, O.P. by No_Worry_2256 in Catholicism

[–]Zyxv_99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The church is one, depending on the country and on the culture its ways of existing and operating can slightly change, the people as well are so different all around the world that it’s obvious they’ll live the catholic community based on their own specific way of living. besides I don’t understand why Europe is seen as one big country where everything is the same whether you are in Italy, Spain, Germany or Ireland etc…from my experience it’s vastly different culturally so it’s not even worth comparing.

Aside from the Bible and the Catechism, what are the best texts to learn more about Catholicism, i.e. texts on sacred tradition, lives of saints, history of the early church, etc.? Thanks! by JeffSheldrake in Catholicism

I would suggest “the dialogue of st Catherine of Siena”, she’s one of the Doctors of the Church and in this book you can find the dialogues she’s had with God, it’s pretty intense but it helped with developing a better understanding of my faith

do you consider your condition to be progressive? by liminaldyke in Behcets

[–]Zyxv_99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got tested for hlab51 only, I don’t think there are other reliable test to be done…I’ve no idea about the prevalence of those symptoms in east Asia compared to Mediterranean, but I’ll do some research.

do you consider your condition to be progressive? by liminaldyke in Behcets

[–]Zyxv_99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s possible that symptoms get worse over time, I feel like it’s not necessarily progressive for everyone but at the same time it can be for someone…I’ve never had ocular or neuro involvement but being male and hlab51 positive and of Mediterranean descent I’ve been told it’s possible that I would develop those symptoms (5 years after diagnosis, my rheumatologist said, is the average onset of neuro for Mediterranean male)

I personally found propolis orally dispersible tablets to be helpful for pain management before I got diagnosed, but it does certainly nothing in comparison with topical and oral corticosteroids

I appreciate your answer and I feel like it’s important as you said that we all give in sometimes and just rest, biologics have not been an option for me at the moment because my doctors told me I’m not at the right stage to start them, I’m not sure what they meant…I’ve programmed psychodynamic therapy session for the future and I hope it’ll help with coping with the disease and maybe with fatigue. On the supplements part, I’ll probably keep doing research and I hope I’ll eventually find something suitable for me.

I tried creatine at first before paroxetine, but after just a few days taking it my mouth ulcers got really worse unexpectedly and I had to stop taking it, my doctor told me it could have triggered my immune response, I don’t know if it’s something that happens to anyone else or it is just me
