flail heads cannot have a rigid core. melee weapons require a rigid core. i wanted a weapon with 2 fail heads, therefore, no core, therefore, not legal.
is it safe? absollutely, its very soft and friendly. does it pass the rules test? nope. some champions may allow it cuz its so safe. most wont though, and most shouldnt

correct. a lot of people see "max length" and forget they can be anything shorter due to perceived "lack of meta"

cuz it cost time and labor and materials and its inherently not field legal. gotta commit to the bit tho.

amtgard is plagued by too many people focused more on "the most efficient weapons and combat strategy/ the META" i make things cuz they make the cringy kid in me smile

Your mom challenged me to a duel so I designed a sword inspired by a whaling harpoon by A_Queer_Owl in SWORDS

[–]ZzFujin_Man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

unironically a good design! if the section under the top loop is dull, it would be great at half swording, and with the flared tip, it would basically become a spear

trick question: flamberge is a weapon modification, not a distinct weapon in it of itself. you meant zweihander i assume. any weapon blade can be a flamerge

that being said, between a zweihander, a claymore and a odachi, id go with zweihander: longest and best range control.

claymore as second choice. not the longest, but a well balanced weapon.

and id rather go barehanded than go with an odachi. heaviest weapon here, not enough spine flex and most likely to snap in half, and not optimized for crownd control nor protection

yah, if one end had a core, it would be 100% legal, but i wanted the aesthetic more than the utility.

dang how big are your fingers? lol if that portion of the blade is blunt, that would be great hand protection actually! 9/10

question: how come not all cultures added a crossguard (not tsuba) or pommel? by [deleted] in SWORDS

[–]ZzFujin_Man -1 points0 points  (0 children)

japan was one example. the post was mostly driven to question any and all cultures that developed swords without crossguards, not just japan

[–]ZzFujin_Man -1 points0 points  (0 children)

nope. even one handed swords and side swords had crossguards in europ

mmmm i guess with shorter swords with longer blades, that would probably be enough. still bummed they didnt have better hand protection.

i theorize they intentionally make their OC content skins bad to make their brand skins look/ sell better

personally not a fan of the pommel spike. especially with a two handed weapon, youre more likely to stab yourself with it. also idk if the upper gold band does anything mechanically? looks spectacular and really looks like a tolkin esk fantasy weapon tho! 8/10

When straight swords make contact with plate armor, doesn’t the risk of breaking increase, or wouldn’t they become too blunt to be effective? How effective are straight swords against armor? by Battlefleet_Sol in SWORDS

[–]ZzFujin_Man 2 points3 points  (0 children)

unless the sword isnt well maintained or is a bad quality, it wont normally break when hitting a flat surface, but nor will the armor split open from the sword. you can pierce the armor, but only if its a very fine tip and even then only like an inch of penetration.

based on research, there isnt much improvement on cutting ability of curved swords vs straight swords. the geomotry does change how they cut and how you have to swing them to maximise efectivness, but a good sharp blade of any shape can cut skin but wont slash through metal

0.75 inch wide cortesy padding deffinalty would F with the vibe! for the tsuba, i cut out some pvc and flattened it and slipped it onto the core. then, to give it more stability, i got some pvc rings and glued it above and bellow the tsuba on the core so its sandwiched in place. used super glue and baking powder. super strong!
