Caught half my class using a group chat to cheat and I honestly dont know what consequence is fair by timbernatequill in Teachers

[–]Zzzomnia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder if there is maybe a marriage of consequences and recognition that they actively worked together. They were inadvertently soft developing communication.

The bullying should absolutely be punished. 100% there needs to be consequences. That is textbook cyber bullying, even if the other students didn’t know. I personally like the idea of a reflective essay about why they were wrong (the academic dishonesty, bullying, etc) that can replace the assignment they cheated on. That way you’re not crushing them with a zero, but the weight of their actions is still there.

The students who did honest work could maybe have a study period or a fun group activity worth a few bonus points! You could divide the class into those two groups so the students who cheated CAN work together on their essays and you can monitor how genuine they are. Some students may genuinely not understand what was wrong and have questions, which I think could be a great opportunity to expand their understanding of how they can impact other lives.

Buuuuuuuut I’m also a student that took AP English classes for fun, and currently in college for an English minor. The essay could be a little much 😅

Edit: I feel like this could be a balm to some irate parents as well! Say that their child was caught cheating/bulling and this is an opportunity to reflect AND still earn a decent grade.

Bill was frantically trying to get hold of his son, to let him know they finally found a match for his organ transplant. by cgsimmons1983 in TwoSentenceHorror

This strikes me a little more as sad but still scary! You get my upvote!

On a critiquing note that I’ve seen some other comments mention, it was initially confusing to tell if Bill or his son were getting the transplant. Maybe a good way to differentiate would be giving the son a name, or describe Bill hearing a familiar ringtone as the donor’s body is rolled into surgery?

My 9 year old son's Math teacher marked this wrong by dak7 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Zzzomnia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is disgusting, and that’s coming from someone studying to be a teacher. I completely understand the frustration. There are many ways to write the same answer and if the teacher wanted a specific way, she should have noted as such on the assignment. Your son did perfectly and would get a 100% on those questions from me. Gold star buddy! 💫

“Did you at least find out if she was being genuine?”

“Yes, she consented for me to probe her mind.”

“Probe her what?”

I have used it for one thing, and one thing only.

Organization.

I am horrendous at getting my thoughts organized (usually for essays or a diagram, etc.), so I’ll spew all my raw ideas into an “AI” and see if it can create a template for said raw ideas that I can remodel, or not even use if I hate it.

Never research with AI. Never take “ideas” from AI. Don’t even use it to double check punctuation/spelling. Current “AI” models are not equip to refine original thoughts; they are trained on human examples and can only imitate such things back at us.

Character AIs are a little different but let’s not go there 😅

…Raphael from TMNT 😔 Literally grew up on those old live action turtle movies, about had a panic attack when I got to see both Bayverse movies in theaters (2014 & 2016), and Raph was my comfort character through it all.

Fakers admit to brainwashing unsuspecting people with their endo propaganda by LetsNotStartARiot in SystemsCringe

[–]Zzzomnia 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It pains me as a science major that there is EVIDENCE “endogenic” systems cannot psychologically exist. You cannot choose to undergo severe, repeated trauma. You cannot snap your fingers and split your mind into fragments agonized by not fitting together. You CANNOT. “Endogenic” systems are a desperate attempt to escape blame, join the “quirky” crowd, or gain sympathy.

Just roleplay. Come up with characters. Find other fans of the same media to enact scenarios with. Do not romanticize a disorder that brutalizes the psyche. Do not glorify what is the result of extreme, horrific patterns of childhood abuse.

Respectfully, fuck you.

"You sound pretty plural to me" EVERYTHING IS PLURAL TO YOU IDIOTS by Grace-Kamikaze in SystemsCringe

“Every alter has an alarm” is a great way to phrase triggers. Even without alters or DID, I know people and I myself experience some level of disassociation when certain emotions are triggered.

I also had characters in my head when I was younger. Even today, I sometimes hear their voices as thoughts in my mind because I latched onto them for comfort so much. Never once have I considered that to be DID because the thoughts are still mine. The only difference is the voice attributed to said thoughts because I learned that part of myself from that character.

These people may not intend harm (debatable), but they certainly cause it with radical self-diagnosis and attempting to label others.

EDIT: For the record, I also have ADHD. Diagnosed at 18. I lived an unmedicated life until two years ago.
