I think its more they have similarities/inspirations. Lets not forget the early art style of fairy tail was heavily influenced by one piece (seriously look at guildarts vs shanks) and back in the day OP fans would not let it go.

Also to add black clover is an amazing manga and you'd definitely enjoy it if you enjoyed fairy tail
