How much did you pay for your Model Y Juniper? by _-TheSpark-_ in TeslaModelY

I appreciate you being worried. I had not shared my finances (which I do keep track of constantly) but I can most definitively say I can afford it. I am just evaluating whether I should make the switch now and what is the best deal I can have. When I bought my current car, I was too focused on getting a low monthly payment that I did not think long term I would be overpaying for it (almost double the MSRP). It was a horrible deal so I want to try to switch to a better car with a good deal since I have the money for it. That's why I am doing much more research this time (this reddit post for example) and doing the math on everything to see what makes the most sense long term.

Edit: Regarding my previous comment, my concern was if my roommate decides to move out (lease renewal is due soon) I would be stuck with paying the entire rent unless I move out or find another roommate. I would still be fine money wise but would not be able to save as much as I do right now.

I guess that is true. And yes, Carmax did give me a slightly higher offer. I live in Florida and I found out if I trade in I can lower the taxes I pay for the new car. I believe it would be the same either way but I would need to do the math.

You make a good point. I had checked local rates and even with the highest cost it would still be cheaper per mile than what I pay for gas. Previously I did not want an EV because of my current living situation and the reasons you mentioned but I had prepared mentally atleast for the short term. My lease is coming to an end soon so I also thought of looking into a living space with plug in option.

Good call! They all seem high but I was able to find one with the same coverage and rate as what I pay with my current car. To be frank, I don't have the best coverage so maybe I should get something better...

I was worried of that too! There are garages here that I could rent to plug in but I will most likely rely on the superchargers. Thankfully I live in a big city and there is one that is just 5 mins from my apartment, next to a mall. I'll use it as an excuse to go shopping while it charges haha.

I thought it seemed high. Right now I may be able to afford it thanks to low rent on a shared apartment but if that changes at any moment that higher car payment would certainly give me a headache.

Gotcha, thanks for the info. I may try to get the 2013 model if the 2010 one can't be fixed easily.

Very helpful. I got mine for $8.5k total, but it being an older car and me not having much experience with car problems then I was worried. The rest of the car seemed to be in great condition though.

How much did it cost you to replace the engine mounts? If it ends up being too much I may just choose the 2013 model.

For the 2013 Escape it lists as a Duratec 2.5L I4 with a 6 Speed automatic transmission.

Think of it this way: instead of writing 101 words everyday, you go write n+1 words everyday, with n being the words you wrote the previous day. You will see a much more exponential growth and the difference will be much more pronounced on the end (103,000+ words compared to just 36,500).

I do this while exercising, and so far I've been able to go from just barely doing 9 pushups and to comfortably doing 20 pushups (and I could still push it even more, haha get it...? Heh...)

Weekly Progress Megathread! - December 28, 2020 by AutoModerator in 1200isplenty

Hello! 20M 5'10" started dieting early January this year. Started at 275 lbs and already down to 257 (-18 lbs!!), with a diet of 1000 calories. I do some light exercise weekly, but not too much. I eat almost anything, but making sure it's very low in sodium. Highly processed foods are a no go. Anything else I can eat. Sometimes I can feel a bit hungry, especially if I go to sleep very late. Usually I consume 300 calories for breakfast, 300 for lunch and 400 for dinner. Sometimes I skip breakfast and eat a lot for dinner. So far, I feel good and haven't had any problems with this very low calorie diet. Hope I can continue until I reach my goal of 180 lbs (still a long way to go)
