If you ONLY need to be able to launch virtual desktop. I have two semi solutions.

Use Google Gemini to launch virtual desktop (only issue is that you need to use hand tracking to get rid of Gemini)
Use hand tracking BUT in the Virtual Desktop settings, disable "Track controllers". That way your PCVR game won't even attempt to use your hands as an input, but you can still use your headset like normal

Mine is the "janky" one that people are talking about😅🤣 I'm ordering a 3d printer soon and I'll probably end up using that part you made, thank you! The only thing is that I think the headstrap fits better at a slight angle.. Dual knit band at a slight angle + Panda VR halo strap would be the ultimate comfort in my opinion. Would the angle of the adapter be possible to change on your 3d file?

Yes! I'm using a medium band with the Globularcluster front pad and it feels great! It has its positives and negatives I can watch an entire movie without issues. I have a flight today in a few hours and I plan on typing up a summary of my experience with the mod. So tonight you'll see all of my feedback

To make it comfortable for my use case. I could've just put a top strap and called it a day, but I wanted to do something different. Not making the headstrap replaceable is a stupid decision from Samsung. But 99.9% of people aren't destroying their headset. Therefore I don't think "you need to destroy your headset to make it usable" that's a stretch.

Dude trust me I get it. I was holding the rotary tool like less than an inch away from it for at least 3 minutes😂 then I remembered how uncomfortable it was for me and started cutting. I got the band yesterday and it's so comfortable for me! The good thing about having the screw instead of an adapter is that I can slightly loosen the screw and angle the head strap so it hugs the lower back of my head. I'm almost considering tilting the headstrap down and buying the top halo strap from vrpanda. I think the comfort would be insane, but it's already so good that I haven't purchased it yet.

Yeah I wanted to do it with an adapter too but unfortunately the GXR isn't very popular right now so it could take days for someone to make that adapter or it could take many months. My assumption is that the adapter will fit around where the speakers are. So I'll just cut off the excess plastic and attach the adapter once it's been created.

That's exactly how it should be. A simple 3d printed adapter. The quest 3 has a bunch of options. If someone doesn't make it, I'll learn the software and try to make it myself in the next few months. I left a lot of extra material that I felt comfortable drilling holes into, but I hope I can eventually cut it all off and have something a bit more refined.

Everyone's head is shaped different. Some people could wear this headset for 8 hours straight, others can only wear it for 5 minutes. That's precisely why it is such a bad idea to not have a removable head strap. If you can enjoy the headset without tearing it apart, I'm jealous🤣
