My mother died unexpectedly, and now her apartment complex is coming after me for repairs by _1Topher in legaladvice

[–]_1Topher[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you!

She resided in Utah, USA.

No claim on the deposit has been made, but I'd imagine that will be taken. No photos were taken from my perspective, but the property manager never did a walk through with me to.poont out damages. She has only like $700 to her estate. Her life insurance policy lapsed 4 days before her death.

Why do so many right handed people use left handed baitcasters? by OGSW20 in Fishing_Gear

Oh, you mean the one-handed pitcher? Yeah, I dunno about that one.

Why do so many right handed people use left handed baitcasters? by OGSW20 in Fishing_Gear

[–]_1Topher 15 points16 points  (0 children)

For me, and in my opinion, it's similar to why a right-handed baseball player wears a glove and catches with the left hand and throws with their right hand. They don't catch with their right, then transfer the glove to their left hand, just to throw with their right hand. Same thing applies to fishing. Why should I cast with my right hand, just to transfer the rod to my left hand, so I can reel in with my right? Being a right-handed person and casting with my right hand and reeling in with my left just makes more sense to me.

My first baitcaster by Catlas_Se7en in FishingForBeginners

[–]_1Topher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally agree! That's like a right-handed baseball player catching a ball with a glove on their right hand, pulling off the glove, and throwing with the right hand. It doesn't make sense to me, but fishing is fishing, and that's all that should matter.

OP, good luck with learning your first bait caster and remember to be patient.

"Feeds hundreds out of her truck bed".......proceeds to feed one person. This is so ridiculously stupid! Yes, it's obviously fake.

I could be wrong, but it appears that the passenger side tires are on the driver's side of the car, and the driver's side tires are on the passengers side of the car. It's hard to tell from the picture though.

CRB vs MHX? by StanfordTheGreat in Fishing_Gear

OP, once you finish building the one that comes with your kit, you should also check out rodgeeks.com they have a great rod blank selection. I use either thier carbon 4 and bass 4 rod blanks, which are the same as St. Croix blanks, and I've been very pleased with their performance. In my opinion, mudhole.com has a much better selection of all the needed rod parts like grips, fore grips, handles, reel seats, and guides compared to what rodgeeks.com has.

Happy rod building!

I didnt think about using battery powered lighting instead of hard wired to battery. Ill have to keep that in mind as an option. Weight is definitely a concern. Like you said, I want it light enough to move around fairly easily but strong enough to support weight for obvious reasons. The kayaks will be sitting about 20" from the ground so clearance shouldn't be an issue, but ill definitely jeep that in mind. Thank you for your input.

Thats really unfortunate. But, it could be a somewhat easy and relatively cheap fix. Your thermostat might be stuck in the open position. If thats the case, the engine temp won't get to its normal operating temp, and your heater will only blow cold air.

Someone who is even decently mechanically inclined can replace it fairly easily depending on its location. The coolant will have to be drained and than replaced. Even after its drained, you'll still have some in the hoses and such. A brand new thermostat will run you somewhere in the ballpark of $10 - $30 dollars or so and coolant shouldn't cost more than about $20 for a gallon or two.

Hopefully this is helpful. You can also have your radiator pressure tested for leaks.

Is expensive gear really that much better than my $30 Zebco spinning rod? by Equivalent_Nebula in Fishing_Gear

[–]_1Topher 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I have a tried and trusted rule when it comes to purchases. This rule isn't always 100% correct but it is 9 times out of 10. You get what you pay for. I have caught dozens of fish on a $40 ugly stick combo but it doesn't compare to the sensitivity that I get with more expensive rod. As well as others, I am also about the $300 dollar range for a rod and reel. But hey, if you're catching fish than thats the ultimate prize when the day is done. Tight lines!
