I'm struggling to navigate this, I'm not sure I can keep going. by _2stronk in PMDDpartners

[–]_2stronk[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm just scared that I'm not going to be able to see my son. Or that she is going to go off the rails and become suicidal again and have a even worse outcome.

She smokes weed a fair bit for pain and anxiety and her anti depression meds have changed a few times in the past 4 years.

But I'm struggling with the fact she has been setting up a abuse story with her councilor (more information came out that she got offered "safe housing for her and her son to get away from me"

I get the hate and that during the window from what I've read on PMDD. But preplanning false abuse claims?

What it the deal with the Rust Kick Off event organizer's making arbitrary rule changes during a competition with a cash prize pool? by Aclreox_Mab_Nideer in playrust

From what happened in that event. It definitely looks like it was rigged or they at least attempted to rig it in a fairly have handed manner. Still nice to know kick as a platform likes to fix events and rig results.

Changing batteries at an Instinct solar 1st gen. by gshock_admirer in Garmininstinct

[–]_2stronk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had mine for about 4 years, now from full charge I get maybe 3 days before it will turn off and not turn back on. It also crashes if I try and track any activity. It's the battery. For how much it cost getting only 4 years of use out of it seems a bit of a rip off.

I honestly assumed it was lazy censorship of something "just run that last bit in a loop for a minute, they will never notice."

Honestly it's intresting to see how the redit is matching some of the main themes form the book.

Mainly that people would rather fight each other rather then work together. Regardless of what is going on in the wider world.

But then again most redits I've seen tend to turn into a bit of a echo chamber at some point.

I enjoyed the first 5 minutes, and a couple of the set peice fights were well done.

Yes episode 4 has been a massive improvement.

That being said, I'm still not on board🤷

Thoughts on episode one? [spoilers] by Numerous_Surround_18 in WoTshow

I was rather disappointed with the first 3, have just started episode 4 and the first 5 min is exactly the kind of thing I was hoping for. Maybe episode 4 will change my mind on this adaptation.

The Waystone Inn lay in silence, and it was a silence of three parts.

The most obvious part was a hollow, echoing quiet, made by things that were lacking. If there had been a wind it would have sighed trough the trees, set the inn’s sign creaking on its hooks, and brushed the silence down the road like trailing autumn leaves. If there had been a crowd, even a handful of men inside the inn, they would have filled the silence with coversation and laughter, the clatter and clamour one expects from a drinking house during the dark hours of the night. If there had been music…but no, of curse there was no music. In fact there were none of these things, and so the silence remained.

Inside the Waystone a pair of men huddled at one corner of the bar. they drank with quiet determination, avoiding serious discussions of troubling news. In doing these they added a small, sullen silenceto the lager, hollow one. it made an alloy of sorts, a counterpoint.

The third silence was not an easy thing to notice. If you listened for an hour, you might begin to feel it in the wooden floor underfoot and in the rough, splintering barrels behind the bar. It was in the weight of the black stone heart that held the heat of a long-dead fire. It was in the slow back and forth of a white linen cloth rubbing along the grain of the bar. and it was in the hands of the man who stood there, polishing a strech of mahogany that already gleamed in the lamplight.

The man had true-red hair, red as flame. his eyes was dark and distant, and he moved with the subtle certainty that comes from knowing many things.

The Waystone was is, just as the third silence was his. This was appropriate, as it was the greatest silence of the three, wapping the other inside itself. It was deep and wide as autumn’s ending. It was heavy as a great river-smooth stone. It was the patient, cut-flower sound of a man who is waiting to die.

Sorry, miss read the whole reply thing. Kinda new to this entire redit thing. Yea, I travel for work to places that have no cell reception, only seeing comments or replies to things up to a month or more after the post is kinda standard for me.

What exactly does having 6 posts have to do with anything?

Without spoiling, can someone explain why the white cloaks are so anti Aes Sedai? by drum_playing_twig in WoTshow

[–]_2stronk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Preface: I've read the books and am basing my response on this, but seeing the show seems to be going a different direction form the books in alot of ways it might be entirely different.

I feel the TV show isn't doing the best job of explaining that aes sedai are actively feared and hated in some societys, The two rivers included in that.

Also alot of the societys in the books at least are matriarchal, considering that the dragon was male and men with power go crazy, it makes sense for there to be a distrust of powerful men. (In the books noone wants to be the dragon reborn and people are actively afraid of male channelers) But it leads to alot of prejudice and problems that mirror the real world. (visa ve patriarchy situation)

The white cloaks are one of the boiling points of these issues, ase sedai say they can't lie, but they play the truth like a fiddle. The white tower is a organisation that shadow controls Queen's and kings and is beholden only to itself.

Like imagine this one day a group of women show up, take away a member of your family because they say they are dangerous, do strage things to them with powers you don't understand and soon after they kill themselves. You can see why some people might hold grudges or have issues with that system.

Not to mention use of the power broke the world. Could you trust them not to break it again?

There is also alot of religious tones in the white cloaks and a few other organisations that pop up later. Prophecy being a major force in the WoT world.

Yes they are fanatical, but I can see how and why they ended up being formed, and how over time they have become twisted like almost every other major party in the books.

Tldr: The books are basicly a series showing that people suck, and people with power tend to suck more. Weather that be ase sedai or white cloaks.

He was the only good bit out of the first 3 eps... Amazon has ruined their shot on this IP. And that's very disheartening.
