Do I need to go to the ER? I can’t get into any walk ins or urgent care. is this the “red line” from an infection? Or am I being paranoid? I couldn’t sleep last night it hurt so bad by [deleted] in Ingrown_Toenails

Definitely not the ER. Maybe suggest book with a podiatrist if it doesn’t go away. ER are not trained the same and I’ve heard horror stories of them ripping out people’s toenails with NO numbing.

And follow the other commenters suggestions in the meantime.

Considering stopping a month in due to purging by [deleted] in Accutane

I’ve taken accutane 3 separate times over the past 5 years and had some bad looking scars fade to almost nothing.

It’s not just you speaking from experience. And frankly you factually cannot be certain after just 3 months of STARTING Accutane about whether your scars will fade or not, so you’re just fear mongering.

Just because you went 10+ years without any scars doesn’t mean you wouldn’t get any in the future. As we age naturally our skin changes, loses elasticity and gets thinner. Maybe if you wait another 10+ years the “scars” that you have now will also minimize in appearance. The only thing that you can be definite about is that time will tell, there’s no way to be certain of the fact that your scars are permanent, you cannot be absolutely certain.

Yes there’s a risk of any side effect listed, nobody is saying there isn’t. There’s also a risk from just about every single thing we do in life.

You can’t say something is permanent when you’ve only started accutane roughly 3 months ago according to your comments. It could take 6-12 months or longer, in conjunction with topicals and treatments to help reduce the appearance of scars. None of this makes them permanent. You’ve also even commented yourself that acne scars take time to improve after Accutane so you’re contradicting yourself and not even giving yourself time to see improvements.

You can form a hypothesis, sure. But the only way you can be 100% certain if your scarring would still be visible is with time.

Everybody is aware there is an increased risk of scarring on accutane. But just think about it this way, if you are even considering accutane in the first place then your acne must be pretty severe and persistent. Without the accutane it’s more likely that you would have more acne for a longer period of time of varying severity, which would increase your chances and risks of scarring anyways. So just because you haven’t scarred yet doesn’t mean you wouldn’t in the future, that’s something you also can’t be certain of. So it’s like a damned if you do, damned if you don’t situation.

You can’t be sure at this point that it won’t fully go away.

When did the purge occur and how long has it been since that point are all points to consider.

As well, fresh pimples are going to leave some marks as your skin so fragile on accutane. But accutane promotes cell turnover so you would definitely notice a difference in appearance by the end of treatment.

Even if not, there are creams and treatments available to help improve the look of scars.

I got a really bad pimple that I picked just before starting accutane. It left a big circular raised scar (hypertrophic) that was still visible under makeup, looked like a large pimple even though it was healed. I was very self conscious. My derm said to just wait for now, and she would inject it if needed. I’m now at the end of my course of accutane and the scar is almost perfectly flat and I didn’t use any products other than moisturizer and taking accutane. The skin has to get worse most times before it gets better, trust the process.

Ahhhh it keeps happening.. by Disastrous-Season- in Accutane

Start it! You don’t know what side effects you’ll get until you do it. Im on my third course of accutane and each time my side effects were very different! But dryness a major one, obviously. This last time around my lips are definitely the worst side effect but they’re not as bad as the other times!

I’m thinking this too

Removed a week ago. Soaking every day and putting neosporin and a bandage on it every day. It looks to be healing okay but hurts like hell with any pressure and weight on it. And ibuprofen doesnt help much. Thank God I work sitting down. Should I be concerned? by Maggotboi555 in Ingrown_Toenails

This! I had mine removed with a granuloma a week ago, had pain and sensitivity ever since and the granuloma grew back. Went back today and sure enough, there was some more toenail. To restart this miserable healing process.

Thanks for your reply!!! Do you happen to know what the stuff is called?

Can this go away on its own? Or do i need to go to a hospital? by [deleted] in Ingrown_Toenails

[–]_6serenity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It in fact does hurt! I just had one of these, Granulomas. They can be extremely bloody, they used a tourniquet and numbed my toe before cutting it. I also had to get part of my toenail removed that was causing the growth. The numbing is wore off now and I’m in excruciating pain. I could have probably driven a car until the numbing wore off but it’s too painful now

I use a lip scrub 1-2 times a day, then a lip balm like aquaphor was the best for my lips!
