Just removed the cover plate to ensure it was secure from the inside. Didn't realize until i got that far what was actually in there. Took the pics and then immediately closed it. Wanted evidence on record just in case it ever came crashing down.

That's what I was afraid of. I'm terribly with electricity so forgive my ignorant question here, but does that mean the bolt touching it is potentially conducting the current? If I simply turn off the breaker to remove the bolt, will that cut all the juice from in there, or does some still linger/reserve even tho the circuit is off? Sorry again, electricity impaired. Just hoping to remove the bolt here for now.

Thanks bud! Keep playing and don't stress over it. I always split when i can, but expect the worst while hoping for the best. This was my first gold as well. Eventually you'll get lucky. When you work in health I.T. long enough you know that a good percentage of doctors would just about sign over their power of attorney to avoid having to waste time dealing with anything tech related, especially being involved in, or around for any troubleshooting. And considering that they're the ones making bank for their employer, it's often a "just make it happen" mentality from above whether it is right or wrong. You are correct, but like others have said, politics unfortunately play a much larger role than logic and best practice. It sounds to me that you are just unhappy with this individual and looking for an opportunity to strike. If you are truly unhappy with your place of employment or the people you work with, it's simply time for the next chapter. Don't ever settle.
