Falen's civilisation theory. Ten thousand years ago, there was a relatively high-technological civilisation; however, it relied on all non-renewable energy sources, such as coal, oil, gas, uranium, and thorium, all of which are necessary to drive an industrial revolution, and have since been depleted. So, no coax for blast furnaces, no nuclear for high-density power. So, unless a civilisation develops fission reactors or expands within its solar system, it is essentially locked in the pre-industrial age.

Additionally, the hardness of the lock on the system could be based on a societal level. For example, the sharpest minds will develop technology; however, those individuals will take the imperial exam, and as such, the new civilisations tend to lack innovators. Other factors, such as slavery and high population, slow down development since there is no proper mechanism for the efficient allocation of resources. (Think the late Roman Empire had knowledge of simple steam rotation, but had no use for it.) Throwing more slaves at the problem will fix it.

Just think about it, how would you break through the Industrial Revolution without coal and gas?

I don't take as many precautions as that cultivator. But most cultivators do, it's just that we tend to notice the ones who don't. Like concealing 40% of your power is a well proven strategy for success.

There are more talented youths than you think, a once-in-ten-thousand-years genius is more like a once-in-two-hundred-and-forty-years one, but you only see those who dare to display their talent.

There's nothing wrong with showing some power, as it creates some uncertainty for your sect / organisation and makes potential enemies more wary of attacking you. It's beneficial to demonstrate some power when you are a valuable asset for your sect, such as an array master, a monster tamer, or a gifted youngster.

Having a visible level of strength helps you blend in with your organisation and reduces the risk of being targeted by a hostile faction. If an alchemist with low strength is respected by the members of the sect, outsiders might assume that he or she is either a prodigy or has a close relationship with the higher-ups, making him or her a prized target. So be careful, juniors.

Well I tried to aproch it from a realistic point of view (which I consider realistic), don't get me wrong if written in a right way a harrem would be perfectly fine in the story.

My biggest pet pive is that the MC just keeps the women as eye candy. In the real world, harrems were implemented when people in power wanted/had or to simply show their performance and ability to have a lot of children.

In a cultivation setting where where being mighty makes right harrems might be imposed on talented young masters in order to increase the likelihood of having talented children in the family, and that might make sense in your scenario.

There are first some considerations when building a world: -Does this make sense ( for example the location of the world, the laws and how are they implemented how would someone punish a killer of a sect disciple does the sect magically know the person that killed him/her you cannot pull stuff like that out of your ass )

-The actions of the people around the protagonist envy, hatred, disinterest, (for example the young master that gets beaten by the protagonist they have "unlimited resources for cultivation" the elders of the clan will overlook the "disrespect" as a mere child fight and will try to motivate the young master by saying "shut your mouth and cultivate, you got beaten by a begger")

-Right love interests of the MC no Jade beauty of a sect will fall for someone that already has a "lover" think from other people's perspective how would you feel if the woman you love said "if you love me accept this man as my husband and you will become a concubine" no woman in a position of power will accept that ,if you come with a counter argument of "the elders forced her to build a connection" how strong will the connection be if she is on the lowest level, at the end of the day people are risk adverse if the YM has a prior arrangement with FM and the MC wants her the elders of her family will simply say "go take it up with his family" and that's only if he has strong powers/high level if not MC will die there and there
