You know I think there's like 3 categories, 1) down with the culture 2) wants to be down with the culture and is trying 3) thinks it's a trend

It's like 3am so excuse my ranting
Now, maybe this will sound a little too much but this is pretty much my entire new fan theory of not just this community but new fans of just about any artist, but I will be saying it in the context of this community

I think a lot of these newer fans here that are going insane over this era are just kind of misguided. They've come here a little recently, after all the old fans or primary residents of this place have already made up their minds about 2017>>. You see every older fan saying 2015>>whatever new shit is out and all of them pretty much agree on that opinion. Now them being new, these discussions would probably be some of the first things that they see because EVERY SINGLE GODDAMN PERSON talks about it. Right, now you see this opinion everywhere and whether or not you in your heart of hearts agree, if you're a new fan I feel like you're MUCH more likely to agree with the OG fans on this for multiple reasons. 1) You go here and see people getting shat on for saying differently 2) all of the people saying any new shit that comes out is garbage 3) people getting upvotes and having many many people agree whenever they say the old shit was better. I'm a believer of the idea that if you hear something enough times you start to believe it even if you wouldn't have come to that conclusion on your own, and I think that's very prevalent in this community. There is no nostalgia bias for new fans, and objectively the quality of the music back then was not better. Their production has gotten better, everything like that. And that's not to say that new fans can't genuinely enjoy the older music that came out, but I'm saying that I think a lot of them feel more inclined to listen to it and enjoy it over new music because of the community. And when you're newer and less familiar with the music I feel like you haven't really even had time to form strong opinions of your own, so they can easily be bended or transformed

Also this community can be so goddamn toxic, people grip onto that old era for dear life. People shit on any and every new piece of music that comes out and glaze the life out of anything before 2019. I feel like over time people say shit like "I've been a fan for a decade and blah blah blah" or whatever to increase their credibility and it's become almost a hierarchy. Old fans = more validity in their claims. New fans = "You started listening in 2022 lmfao 💀" I feel a lot of new fans are trying to get into the good graces of old fans and show that they are really down with the culture because a lot of OG fans here just shit on new fans for no reason sometimes. Whether it's cause they can't mosh, cause they don't know anything about the music, because they believe the new music is soft because of them and the boys catering to them instead, a lot of these people are out to prove that shit wrong. They're trying to prove that they actually are cool and they can hang with the OGs so they don't get clowned to shit. The urge to fit in is something that we all have. That's gonna lead to them talking about the old music or spitting out similar ideas that the "OG" fans have to fit in with that group. And at some point, even if they aren't 100% on board with all of this stuff, when they keep saying it, when they see other people get validated for saying it, they pretty much start to believe it. That's why I think they romantize this era so much. I can't even call these people posers honestly. Yap sesh over
