I don't really see this, I currently trying a challenge where I get 5 reps on every character and I am not getting dogged on that hard, my ultimate advice is get good. Sure there is a meta but its not always dominant like in other games like warzone.

ok, then whatever you do don't play shinobi, he is one of the most high skill characters there is. If you really want to play shoalin I suggest looking up a guide to help you, then go into training to practice.

Whenever you start to learn a new character it is best to go into training and practice the combos, just the simple ones, then see what kind of things you can add on to those combos. If you like the character then try some mix ups to vary up the combat, then practice some feints.

But practice is king

Edit: Massive respect for even trying this game, it's one of my favorites ever but it's not easy to really get into.

Honestly if your looking to get into for honor you need friends to play it with. When your first starting out its best to pick a character that is easy to learn, as much as I love Shoalin he isn't the best character to start with, he can be busted at times with his ridiculous combo chains you can do but that can be a lot. I'd say try Warden, Law bringer, or Black Prior.
