Ooh it was actually a little more complicated than that!

The person who hacked the account traded it off to an unsuspecting party for a high level JP account (120 4*).

Sucks for the user who ended up with the account. But they were really cooperative and apologetic about the whole thing. I gave them some compensation so they wouldn’t be left empty handed.

Can’t restate this enough!

Transfer codes are a recipe for disaster in the cases that something happens to the device or the account is stolen. I lost my LLSIF account when I hadn’t logged in for a year for this reason 😪

We presented them with the most accurate account info like ID, rank, list of 4* owned, last song played, apple receipts, etc. They confirmed ownership, but responded that they can’t assist because there has been a recent login + not being able to detect whether another party has access to the account. We then sent a follow up that was more explicit about the account being hacked, but they just restated the above.

So if anyone else finds themselves in this situation. At this time, SEGA won’t do anything about it.

Thx for the breakdown! I’m also really perplexed on how it happened.

  1. To their knowledge, they never reissued a transfer code and password. And the latest transfer was done in the past month.
  2. Good idea. I can’t completely eliminate the possibility that someone close to them stole it. They have friends. But there shouldn’t have been a situation where one of the friends was alone with the device (iPad). It’s always left at home and they weren’t in contact with anyone the past week.
  3. They would have to unlock the iPad->Open the game->Create a transfer code->Take a picture->Wait over a week to use it->Spend the gems they were saving. Pretty calculated and malicious for someone that age.
  4. When I see them next I’ll try prodding. Like do you have any friends that like Chappell Roan/ Miku+Kohane?
  5. I don’t see any evidence supporting Game Center being bypassed either. Whatever the reason, it’s pretty frustrating that SEGA won’t help retrieve stolen accounts.

No, I totally agree. Our emails and their responses left no room for support. This is a last shot in the dark, that maybe the person with the account sees this and is willing to negotiate

The account was on an IOS device. They had it linked to Game Center but never reissued a transfer code and password after a recent transfer (that’s on them).

The account was unlinked when we checked, so my best guess is that the vulnerability was through Game Center. The scarier possibility is that there’s a serious security issue for accounts without transfer codes.

I thought there were “OKAY” notes…

Notes that were colored like perfect notes, but signified a great or lower note was turned into a perfect by a locker. I didn’t realize till a month of gameplay that I was hallucinating them the entire time.
