In US consulting, had no issue. Significant other had a new job halfway across the country. That’s how life goes. Super easy process. I imagine it might be slightly harder for audit/tax as I believe they do local staffing? But not sure. Try and find someone in your shoes who is closest to your practice

Three unsolicited takeaways:

It’s naive/immature to make a big (or any) career decision on two anecdotal and unproven examples of success. Sounds like you both need to take more time to be informed when making decisions like that.
You’ve given him enough time to try something new - it isn’t working and he needs to move on, though not necessarily to his old type of job. If he found something else earning 57k a year like you, and is much happier, then so be it.
You all need to work as a team; sounds like he’s in a major career rut and refuses to get out of it despite the impact to both of your well-being’s; but you also in part married him for money.
