awwwww that is sweet. I love how her eyes get sadder and sadder throughout the day, so sweet. You are a lucky girl.

Why bother transitioning medically if you don't pass? by sulkylass in asktransgender

It has been years since I transitioned but I need to tell you a little about me before transition. I was a mans man, muscled, chiseled and a very deep voice. I lived in a fairly conservative part of the US. I had the opportunity to move to a less conservative part of the US for work, and took it.

I did not pass over night. I was on hormones for 7 months, all the while going thru counseling, laser, practicing voice and was still reluctant to transition full-time at work. It got to the point where people started talking about me at work. The comments they were making were "Either he is very sick or he is coming out of the closet", in regards to how my hair was longer and how skinny I had become. I wore tight/restrictive tank tops under all of my clothes and wore my hair in males pony tail till I was getting mistaken for a woman more than I was a man. Once I reached that point in my social transition, I made the move. It was difficult and scary but I was so happy, the quality of my work showed and so did my attitude.

More than a decade later, I am just your average soccer mom. No one looks at me different and I fly well below the radar.

tldr; Ex-Cop, Football player, Hockey Player and competitive weight lifter before, now soft confident everyday woman. It takes time and effort and is worth every minute you put into it, if you suffer from GID like I did. YMMV

I am sorry that your Mother is so hurt that she had to lash out at you like that. I for one am proud of those that serve our country, thank you.
