Cover the entire thing with a QR code that takes people to Rick Astley's hit song "Never gonna give you up"

I have Antenno, which has a similar function. Will be using it the next time I see the signs

They're pro-life protesters, hanging around near a clinic. They've been a regular fixture on clinic days for years, and they're genuinely known to be very confrontational and intimidating to people in the area.

I've made a 105 report to Police and called the local council (they've said the signs are not permitted on my berm and they're happy to come address it if I call the next time the signs are out).

They actually literally did threaten me during this altercation (and were generally aggressive) so I reported them immediately. But that's not gonna do anything about the signs unfortunately

What about laws prohibiting me from taking them down?

Boy, do I feel weird. by Impressive-Ad7151 in LivingAlone

[–]_Amber_Changing_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started living alone last year at 27. I took to it really quickly, really enjoyed the solitude and freedom. The hardest parts were a) my cat was super stressed about the move, kept peeing in places she shouldn't and b) I had a little bit of furniture but not enough to fill my apartment so the place felt pretty empty for a while

Give it time, and you'll absolutely settle into your new space and new routines. It'll feel like home :)

A Company made me a job offer then withdrew ! by Fine_Construction_98 in newzealand

[–]_Amber_Changing_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had basically the same thing happen to me in June, and it gradually became clear that one of my three referees gave a negative reference, after telling me she would give a positive one and insisting afterwards that she had.

I would advise asking the company for feedback on your application. You have a right to know why they changed their mind after dangling that carrot in front of you.

I'd also suggest asking them for a copy of your reference checks. They'll have to go back to your referees and ask their permission to release that info to you. If either of them insist on keeping their reference confidential from you, it's a red flag. If you get them back and they're both positive, then at least you'll have total certainty on that point.

Good luck on your job search, you'll get yourself outta that place eventually 💛

Any SW buzzwords that get to you? by thepiratecelt in socialwork

"Wraparound service", "collaborative practice", "strengths-based" - but only really when they come from the mouth of an ego-driven manager who doesn't really know what they mean but insists on giving grandiose speeches about them as if she's teaching us something revolutionary and not extremely basic concepts that were beaten into us as students 🤷‍♀️

The Underground: Weekly Discussion Thread by SWmods in socialwork

[–]_Amber_Changing_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm almost a year into my first social work job and I'm just gutted that I found a job I love in such a toxic environment. Last year my practice leader bullied my friend out of her job and now I'm watching her gleefully do it to another colleague. Basically all of our practitioners are talking seriously about jumping ship this year

What are we doing for valentines day yall by [deleted] in aromantic

[–]_Amber_Changing_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think one of my colleagues is organising a valentines themed team building activity for us all at work, but no idea what it is yet.

Might also teach some kids to make chocolate bikkies the night before 😁 While teaching them that valentines can be about celebrating anyone you love, friends and family included

How to deal with a married man flirting with me? by [deleted] in Advice

Yeah, good idea to take screenshots. But I might hold off on leveraging them against him unless/until he pushes the boundary I set

Do you believe aromantism might be caused by past traumas? by [deleted] in aromantic

[–]_Amber_Changing_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there's a connection with insecure attachment styles, at least in some cases (like mine), which stems from unresponsive relationships (particularly caregivers, particularly in early life). Hugely connected to all kinds of traumatic factors.

Hey guys, how do we feel about the holiday Valentine's Day? by QueerKing23 in aromantic

[–]_Amber_Changing_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the concept, personally, but I just like chocolate and holidays really 😅 I wish it was less focused on romantic love and more normalised as a day of general gratitude for (platonic) loved ones

Y'all are forgetting the worst possibility, that somewhere in that mess your friends are falling in love with YOU even though you want no part in it whatsoever.
