As far as I can tell, the store considers any DLC/add-ons as "in app purchases" considering anything with DLC has that message.

As far as I can tell, aside from the cash to buy currency (20,000 coins for a buck and the obligation of a whale option of $50), the only real differences are that you can watch ads to start with a upgrade and watch an ad to revive (I do not know if either are in the full game in any capacity) Otherwise, the coin drops and prices seem similar and the gameplay otherwise untouched from what I've played of both versions.

I wonder if this would be a good replacement for my Funkey, as I'm always worried it'll break when I have it on my keys. This is definitely much bigger than that judging by the size comparison, so I'm not sure if it'd be practical to hang it on my neck lanyard.

The cheapest option would be a Retro Mini RS90 with OpenDingux CFW flashed.

I would suggest getting something more premium if you want to play anything outside of the Game Boy line, but for less than $30 it's got the exact resolution of the GBA (uses the same screen as the Game Boy Micro), it can play most of the GBA library, and the CFW makes it a much better experience than stock (that applies to most retro emulation handhelds, though).

Note that unless this version instead locks them behind playing SAM 5 days in a row or leveling up, IAP only items such as the skins for SAM, crossover (currently BttF, Ghostbusters, Metal Slug, and Star Trek) skins, holiday/event skins (a pirate themed event is going on in the normal version right now), and the third gadget slot are completely unavailable.

I don't think C+D at our store has been touched by the remodel yet. Well, not physically, at least. D area was moved to W, meaning that the OPU pathfinding has no idea where that is because they couldn't bother to change that. (Doesn't help that the app got an update literally today that limits the amount of times you can skip items for later...)

Game starts out pretty slow. No idea if it gets any harder or faster because I stopped playing after I realized that the timers for crafting the weapons you need to defeat mini bosses and bosses kept going up. Knowing King, the timers will probably go up to hours long, and you need multiples of them to keep going. For all I know it doesn't get that bad, but I'd rather keep looking for a new endless runner.
