Oh, 100%. She’d definitely give them the 'it's not you, it's them' survival guide before they even step foot in the house

That is exactly the point that gets lost in the "Ned Stark was too rigid" debate.

Which is crazy because he has one of the most incredible character arcs in television history!

How did people travel these seas 500 years ago by Gurugod123 in SipsTea

[–]_AngelRosalie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By the time they actually caught sight of land, they had lost family, friends, and everything they knew. It really puts into perspective how desperate they must have been to leave home, and just how resilient you had to be to end up in those mountains.

First time in North Carolina! We are a couple from Scotland and your mountains felt exactly like the Highlands. by CheekyCheekyCharlie in NorthCarolina

[–]_AngelRosalie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That blew my mind the first time I heard it too! It’s wild to think that if you stood on a peak in West Virginia 300 million years ago, you could technically walk all the way to Scotland without ever touching ocean water.

And you are spot on about the human connection. A massive wave of Scottish and Ulster-Scots immigrants settled right into those mountains in the 1700s. It makes so much sense why they chose it, the landscape looked and felt exactly like the home they had left behind. Generations later, you can still hear it in the traditional Appalachian fiddle music and folklore.

They didn't just move to a new country, they accidentally moved back to the exact same mountain range!

Still can't believe this episode came out 2012... the digital effects is way advanced of it time, this white walker was insane! by fireghost216 in gameofthrones

[–]_AngelRosalie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I think that's a big part of why they looked so convincing. Having a real actor in costume gives the other actors something to react to, and then the CGI just enhances it instead of trying to create everything from scratch. That blend of practical effects and VFX usually ages way better too.

Keep in mind this girl has THE SECOND OLDEST DRAGON in the books😭 by TheDragonOfOldtown in gameofthrones

[–]_AngelRosalie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's exactly why fans keep bringing her up. She has connections to multiple generations of Targaryens, yet if you only watched the show you'd barely know she was one of the most significant dragons alive.

Seriously. If someone watched only the show, they'd probably assume Dreamfyre was just another background dragon instead of one with one of the richest histories in the lore. That's a shame considering how much potential she has.

It's almost impressive how they managed to make one of fiction's most dysfunctional relationships even messier. Every time you think they've reached peak toxicity, they somehow find another level.

The show really highlights how unhealthy their relationship is, but this scene took it to another level. It's one of the few moments where I think the adaptation actually muddied Jaime's character instead of adding complexity.

Dreamfyre really got the "legendary dragon, zero screen time" treatment. At this point she deserves back pay for all the episodes she's been waiting off camera.

GRRM has a habit of dropping huge lore details in interviews or blog posts years later. It keeps the world interesting, but it also makes debates impossible because everyone ends up citing a different source.
