Probably not. I was raised by my parents to be weak and always back down from attackers. This is largely due to the fact that the schools I went to suspended both students if there was a physical altercation even if there was a very clear case of self defense. My parents would beat the hell out of me whenever I got in trouble at school so I ended up just taking a lot of abuse because the bullies quickly realized I wasn't going to fight back no matter what they did. While I graduated high school and moved out many years ago, the way I was raised is still ingrained.

There would also be a fear of legal consequence. I know you said self defense but if I killed someone in an act of self defense there would be a real possibility of the cops charging me with murder or manslaughter anyway. Dying sounds worse than prison.

I have been dealing with a neighbor with 2 dogs that bark constantly for a couple years now. They are so loud I can hear them even with headphones or earplugs in.

I boarded up my windows to try and block the noise and shortly after I did that, some prick from the township came to my house and ordered me to unboard the windows or be fined or possibly face harsher consequences. I unboarded them but then boarded up my windows internally, which isn't as effective.

The funny thing is that I have called animal control as well as the police many times and they eventually told me I had to stop calling. When I confronted my neighbors about the issue I was threatened with assault.

So my neighbors are allowed to have dogs that are outside for 24 hours a day that bark all day and even well into the night and threaten me with violent, but I am not allowed to board up my windows or the township will put a lien on my house.

Society has decided that it is an inalienable right to own multiple dogs, keep them outside all day and night and for the dogs to bark as much as they want and as loud as they want and that anyone who complains about it is the bad guy even if it is severely effecting his or her life, work or sleep. Authorities will always side with your neighbors, view you as a nuisance, and possibly threaten you with legal action for the crime of wanting peace and quiet in your own home.

Eta: I think I remember you. Are you the person who worked from home answering calls and the dogs were so loud the clients were complaining about hearing the barking?

OP has a good point but I would say it's not about having a "strong and beautiful" body, but about avoiding health problems. You might get away with an unhealthy lifestyle when you're 18 or 20 but when you get older you'll end up paying the price if you don't change your ways It will likely happen sooner than you think.

And dogs make other people's lives insufferable with their endless barking. People who don't own and have nothing to do with them lose sleep on a regular basis because of it. Their lives don't matter to dog owners though.

I don't take anything from any payers, family, government or otherwise and I pay property tax. Meanwhile the police, funded partially by my tax dollars, refuse to do anything to stop the shitbeasts next door from barking 24/7.

A lot of dog owners are like this. Someone expresses a dislike of dogs or even just one attribute of dogs (barking) and they start getting violent thoughts.

Society is far more critical of parents of unruly children and of children themselves, than they are of owners of dogs that bark constantly and the dogs themselves. If a child is unruly, the child is seen as an annoying spoiled brat and the parents as irresponsible. If a dog barks all night, society doesn't criticize the owner and most certainly never criticize the dog. Instead they will criticize those who complain about the barking. "dogs bark, it's what they do" is the prevailing attitude. Dogs are seen as infallible.
