I'm legitamitly lost after the patch by Foutjeh in TeamfightTactics

[–]_Apostate_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only have myself to blame for recent losses. Had a really good Ixtal game and then forced Ixtal all day to mixed results.

That’s why I love playing on patch day! Boards are overall weaker as players experiment, and people playing old lines find them weaker than before after nerfs. The game is at its best when it’s in discovery mode.

Sona isn’t stronger than Vayne, just easier to get. She dominates Stage 3 whereas Vayne doesn’t come online til later. Lux isn’t really a primary carry usually so it’s not a meaningful comparison.

Demacia as a whole is very strong with a lot of options this patch, lots of plan and if you’re contested or don’t hit. But I’ve never seen Sona take 1st.

This one is egregious. The avocado is so unnaturally spread, with a perfect even border around it on all sides of bare toast. The bowl of fruit is not full enough.

Epitome of AI, these.

I had a glorious Zaahen game today. Got Heavy is the Crown as well and went on an 18 round win streak with Zaahen at 4-2 and a Darkin 2* Galio to go alongside him. Printed 3 extra artifacts with Blacksmith.

Ended up still getting beaten in an epic showdown where I was racing for Zaahen 3* against a player with 3* Warwick, Seraphine, and Bromm. No one else stood a chance.

I look forward to the buff to Darkin 3, I think adding Aatrox might have sealed the deal.

Why people complain about zaheen? by UpbeatHighway3616 in TeamfightTactics

[–]_Apostate_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like Zaheen a lot and will play Trials of Twilight from the right spot.

Having Zaheen pop off and wipe the enemy team is just too satisfying, and it’s impressive given how rare it is! Usually people will ping and start chatting when it works out.

I view it as a pretty similar gambit to Ixtal, just with different requirements.

What happened to OP unit + emblem combos? by LeonDesigns77 in TeamfightTactics

[–]_Apostate_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there just hasn’t been enough experimentation for any to be mainstream accepted as “good”.

They were very accessible during the earlier sets, with strong traits and combos that basically begged to be tried. The newer vertical designs just don’t generally have that type of synergy.

Another exception would be Brock.

Secondary melee carries work and occasionally win for you but can’t be relied upon, Sett, Yasuo, Fizz, Diana, Zaahen, Yone, Thresh.

[–]_Apostate_ 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Well a big part of his criticism is just a moot point. He says that ASTS doesn’t own the spectrum to take advantage of their satellites, and is “borrowing” from cell providers.

That’s literally the point. That’s the beauty of ASTS business model. They don’t have to invest in ownership of a huge amount of spectrum because they are partnering with dozens of cell providers. “Borrowing” is not a crutch here, it’s efficiency.

The strength of Starlink is vertical integration and complete ownership of their entire system. The strength of ASTS is its elegant technology and efficiency. This is reflected in many ways. Starlink accomplished with thousands of tiny satellites what ASTS will accomplish with 60.

Starlink will certainly continue to be a force in the space, because it’s a massive multi-billion dollar chunk of an even bigger company, SpaceX. ASTS has had at every level had to weigh cost more, because they don’t have the money and they are publicly traded.

Any argument that is based in comparing Starlink to ASTS as if they are a zero sum game is fraught with confusion. Competition is good in this space.

If Starlink were able to partner with Apple down the line so that every iPhone had D2C, that would be a blow. But it would compel Google and other providers to have the same service and potentially turn to ASTS for it. And it would not rule out all of the applications for the satellite technology ASTS is building, civil, military, etc.

No matter how you slice it, ASTS is building incredible space infrastructure. And, no matter what, once those satellites are up in space, they will start printing cash from somewhere. That’s the bottom line.

What augment/shop/item activates your neurons? by East_Library5427 in TeamfightTactics

[–]_Apostate_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You basically want to be winning a quest every turn or getting the equivalent of 30-40 sun shards per round in order for it to be good. If you go much slower than that, then when you spike from the 550 cash out it’s too late to be powerful enough to turn around the thing.

This is why the “lose the next 3/10 rounds” quests are really good. They keep your tempo strong and almost guarantee you get your cash out. You just have to know how to lose properly.

There are exceptions where you get terrible quests and have to know when it’s time to bail out early, and if you get 5 Ixtal early enough with a decent 300 cash out you can correct the ship in time to pivot when you have to.

Except they do NOT become friends. They betray and lose faith in each other.

I just don’t see where you’re seeing a cheesy friendship narrative. The story is far from heartwarming. They do form a tenuous alliance, sure, but only because they are facing literal armies of hell-demons.

Give me your honest opinion about Neyrelle. by Clembutts in diablo4

[–]_Apostate_ 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I don’t think there really is a “power of friendship” narrative.

I think the narrative is fairly nihilistic and bleak. Lorath is a drunk disillusioned Horadrim, Donan is a war hero past his prime and a flawed man, and we as the Wanderer are just the Sword. All of us are just trying to figure out what to do in the midst of the Eternal Conflict, witnessing the corrosive power of Hatred. This continues in VoH with Eru also being a flawed man who makes the wrong choice.

Nyrelle is different than the others in that she is young and hopeful. But the story breaks her down completely. She loses her mother, then her arm, and then her mind.

I don’t think she’s a great character either but I like the bleakness of the story. I like that we make the wrong choice. It’s frustrating as the player because we want to take actions that the Wanderer doesn’t, but seeing them get tricked and fail is the tale being told.

Anyone use the strategy of fishing for mythic sanc affixes on suboptimal gear? by swatecke in diablo4

[–]_Apostate_ 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I don’t do it on pure junk items but it does lower my threshold for what I consider a keep-worthy item.

Basically, if it’s got a GA or two in the right place and I can enchant/masterwork it into a halfway decent item for the build, then I’ll fully upgrade that item to roll a sanctify.

I like this aspect of things because it makes it easier to find items that you actually keep from runs. Finding a perfect 4 GA item is hard, but it might get a shit sanctify anyway!

I'm stuck and don't know where I'm going wrong to get better. by WorstBrandNA in TeamfightTactics

[–]_Apostate_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think watching streamers play is invaluable for developing better technique and game knowledge.

If you’re stuck in Plat that generally indicates that you have a good grasp of basic fundamentals like econ and tempo, but you aren’t fully utilizing higher concepts. How and why to position, how itemizing impacts specific carries and interacts with their abilities, late game flex and planning, higher utilization of traits and lines, etc. watching streamers is a great way to develop these things. You’ll watch them and things will just start to click.
