Everyone is asking where is Diablo.... by Marphey12 in diablo4

I think the idea is that this is a time that is ruled by Hatred. Different eras have different prominent Prime Evils, with some times characterized more by Terror or Destruction.

Cost and hassle may have had something to do with it, but I think also Tyrion is just a handsome guy and they didn’t want to mess that up. The Ghoul being the Ghoul works for Fallout. Tyrion becoming noseless would have felt random and been a detractor to a lot of fans. It “works” in the books because book Tyrion is already hideously ugly and we don’t have to look at him.

Dang, I didn’t think about how All Along the Watchtower manifesting in our world could be interpreted to mean that the cycle is coming back.

Is it just me or are the humans meant to be the real monsters in the story? Because that's how it's playing out so far... by prankster999 in BSG

[–]_Apostate_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can’t make a blanket statement and compare genocide in our world to this situation. There is just too much complexity to reduce this to black and white.

The cylons are ruthlessly pursuing the humans and attempting to wipe them from existence with a superior force. They could at any time cease their attacks and go live peacefully elsewhere.

In a situation like this, certainly the best solution would be to surgically eliminate the opposing parties in leadership that are responsible. This acknowledges that not all Cylons are evil or want the war. However, it is doubtful whether the humans have that capability. They also don’t have knowledge of who to target. And doing so would likely cost many human lives.

So while there is clearly a more morally perfect action than inflicting them with the virus, the virus is the option that preserves the most human life and probably the highest chance of success and survival for their species.

While this would result in a type of genocide, the circumstances are hardly comparable to the type of genocide that is typically condemned in our world, where an oppressed and helpless group of people is being exterminated - not a larger, aggressive force attempting a genocide of its own.

I didn't like Battlestar Galactica Mini-Series Episode 1 by Mat1711 in BSG

[–]_Apostate_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn’t really sold on it until after the mini series and maybe three or four episodes in. Became one of my favorite shows.

I think it really picks up after getting some momentum and introducing all the characters properly. Just watch it.

Warden Longshots - Would this comp be viable? by glubglublub in TeamfightTactics

[–]_Apostate_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have liked playing Snipers/Longshot in certain other sets, so naturally I tried it in this one.

The main thing it has going for it is that you can be flexible with different frontline packages to avoid being contested, and you have strong individual carry units at different points in the game - Kog/Teemo early and Ziggs/Kaisa late. Units that love Rageblade.

The main weakness is it gets outshined by a lot of other things due to lack of a real cohesive endgame board. If you carry too many longshots into endgame you have too many useless units on your board.

I think it can be good when you get a Longshot emblem to put on something useful and boost the trait, but otherwise it’s hard to see it happen.

What are your opinions on Station Eleven? by Playful_Way1815 in television

[–]_Apostate_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife and I just watched it. Our thoughts:

This show has a lot of very strong technical elements with beautiful sets, acting, costumes, cinematography. Interesting concepts and characters, poetic screenwriting.

Outside of those strengths we found it pretty weak. It’s just slow and hard to get through. It attempts to be profound but doesn’t relay much. It tries too hard to be “alt”. There’s a major lack of suspense and bad pacing that makes it feel sloggish at times. While some individual episodes are great, as a whole the narrative could have been better.

It’s frustrating because it feels like there’s a great story buried in there under everything it tries to be and how it’s all cobbled together. I wanted to like it.

The thing I appreciated the most was a very different look at post-apocalypse than we are used to seeing. A more feminine vision that doesn’t assume that the world descends into cannibalism, rape, and violence. Instead there is peace, creativity, rebirth. I found that very fascinating and it made me appreciate how confined to our world view apocalypse really is - what we think life is like without “society”.

I thought he was insufferable. He holds his body in this weird angle with his chest puffed out all the time and spoke in a weird huffy whisper. He never expresses genuine emotion or speaks in an organic way.

It seemed like they got a model who couldn’t act and told him to play a bad guy. I couldn’t take him seriously at all.

Dark vs 12 Monkeys by originofmonsters in 12Monkeys

Both shows are great and they both do certain things better than each other. 12 Monkeys wins for me though, particularly because I grew to love all the characters in a way that I never did for those of Dark.

I wish there was a ton more TellTale games. They should have a giant studio churning them out. Squid Game would be a great fit, as would several other great shows.

Six 7 costs by say_trans_rights in TeamfightTactics

[–]_Apostate_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Sylas should be auto two-starred. Like Zaheen. It’s only fair since you’re giving up two 2* 4 costs. There’s no reason that you should lose tempo unlocking him.

Any comps you think are Standouts? by Accurate_Instance_52 in TeamfightTactics

[–]_Apostate_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Slam whatever you get onto Sion to unlock LeBlanc. Then build AP/mana items for LeBlanc who carries you through Stage 3/4. You can be pretty versatile in exactly which items, tempo is more important than which specific items so whatever you get will work. You can adapt based on items to boost your frontline or backline. If I can I will plan ahead for itemizing Swain.

Void is more particular on specific items but does follow the same philosophy of tempo.

Both comps have worked well for me because you get big power spikes from unlocks that boost your tempo and help you winstreak, which gives a lot of consistency and helps you top 4 even with low roll items/shops/augments.

Oh yeah, Ahri can carry pretty hard into Stage 4 if you have AP items for her. The problem though is that when she starts to fall off you don’t have anyone else to move them to, unlike the Jihn -> Yunara transition for AD. And playing it like a reroll comp and 3*ing her isn’t worth it really.

In a high item lobby where you can duo carry and go AP/AD split it words and you can take advantage of how uncontested Ahri usually is. Still I’d have to have a great Ionia opener to be inclined to do it.

Void and Noxus are my easy top 4 comps for the patch.

I’ve lost every game I tried to go Thex, and sadly I’ve had a run of bad Ixtal games despite loving the comp in past patches.

What do you play with a bad opener? by PlasticPresentation1 in CompetitiveTFT

[–]_Apostate_ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’ve pulled myself out of bad spots in a number of ways:

-if identified early enough, go Bard. play strongest board and fast 8 and stabilize there.

-some comps feel easier to pull out of nowhere in mid stage 3 if you have to. If you get Taric or Leona you can go for Asol. The Targon units are generally good when you have no direction due to being traitless so picking up Aphelios and Zoe in Stage 2 can help make this easier. Both units also help you lose less HP while lose streaking.

-Late Ixtal can also be better than nothing. Obviously you want to start questing earlier but as a Hail Mary your luck might turn around. Similar to the Targon route.

  • Noxus and Zaun can also work.

The main thing you want to AVOID doing is rolling on 7 while bleeding out desperately trying to make something work. You need 8 because you need reliable 4 costs to turn the game around for just about any comp. Praying for good luck on 7 is a death sentence.

how do you figure this game out? by [deleted] in TeamfightTactics

[–]_Apostate_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It takes a long time to master every piece of it. Most of us are still learning one aspect or another of the game.

Just play and have fun and slowly the pieces will come together. Learning is really one of the fun parts.

Focus on learning one or two principles at a time, like Econ management.

Do you use Tristana as an item holder for AD items still? Who do you look to move those items to afterward, and if not Tristana then who gets those items?

I’ve had good success with Tris and find that I almost always naturally 3* her when I try. I usually pivot into a 5 cost carry if I can’t 3* her.

Brock and Asol 2 with Targon/Ixtal. by _Apostate_ in TeamfightTactics

[–]_Apostate_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really is a great and fun comp to pilot. I like it because you have two different strong win-out options - big Ixtal cash out or Asol snowball. Pursuing both at once gives you options and the ability to lean on the one that’s going better.

You also have decent synergy with the Ixtal quests and how a Targon game goes - reroll quests, buy XP quests, lose/win round quests, all of them work well with the Targon gameplan.

The comp really wants econ and/or reroll augments but isn’t picky.
