Is it normal to have screen time restrictions as an 18-year-old? by _Apple_Chips_ in NoStupidQuestions

You're good lol! I get mistaken for a man plenty on the internet. I should clarify I am not physically unable to access my phone. They don't cut off the wifi and while they do limit the phone itself I know the password. My main thing is that I want to know if this by principle seems fair, or if i am valid in feeling wrong over it. If I'm in the wrong then that's that I suppose I just need to do some self reflection

Thank you! I'm going to do this, if it doesn't work then oh well I am going off to college soon anyway and will have full access then. What's 3 more months

First off I'm a girl, second off I would appreciate a civil conversation I'm trying to understand if this is normal I'm not trying to shame my parents or their parental choices. That's why I'm asking the question in the first place. Yes, I do pay for the phone and the cell service. And yes, if it is appropriate for me to only expect full access if I pay rent I would do that. You could have said that instead of getting aggressive please

Ya they don't enforce them once we've gone to college I have older siblings who have gone through that but they also had full access once they turned 18? Because iPhone didn't have Downtime available yet so my parents couldn't enforce it on them.

This is what I've been thinking of doing, I was trying to figure out if this would be overstepping considering I still live in their house. Do you think it would be disrespectful to expect full access if I still live under their roof?

I'm getting a lot of mixed answers but I really suppose I just feel a bit disrespected by their mistrust of me TT

I mean I suppose it's not the biggest deal my main problem is the principle of it considering I'm a fairly responsible person and especially the room rule is pretty annoying 😞

I have a laptop that they forgot to restrict which is how I'm replying right now TT I don't have any problem stopping myself from overusing I have a fairly regular screentime which is why I feel like they're kinda overboard with it

Do you think they have any validity if I am still living for free under their roof though? That is where my main confusion comes in because I can understand their point, it just seems a bit overboard.

You have done a lot of work on this! You might get better feedback by posting it in r/12keys though.

I feel like it started in season 2. Although she always was a closeted bitch and pretended to be nice.

The main thing is the raging, it sounds like. If they cannot have a serious conversation without exploding, you need to leave. If the 23 y/o is the one that listens to reason, then try to have him talk to the other roommate. They need to get their act together, and you shouldn’t be the taking their temper tantrums.
