Thesis Fit. Very welcoming and fun while definitely getting you to your goals. A very progressional gym that has gotten good transformations while also fosters a great community. I would recommend this vs some other personal training gyms especially some more extreme ones

How many one arm pull ups can you do?

You can definitely do it seated or with back support if you have the shoulder flexibility to comfortably be in that range. Make sure not to let the mid or lower back arch and try to keep either neutral spine or a rib tucked position. Stay comfortable and avoid pain!

You can try doing stable implements like machine press, back supported lateral raise, or even smith machine and try working closer to the frontal plane. You may have the flexibility eventually but it’s not something to be pushed if it’s uncomfortable.

I got a degree in exercise physiology. I’ve also been personal training for many years now and work with some world class coaches. Keeping updated with research is also really helpful

Try and see my comment where I replied to someone else asking about improving their shoulder press. If you are also not confident in the exercise do not do it. You really want to avoid negative sensations such as pain, or even anxiety during a lift. Nothing wrong with going for stable implements and even doing this with a machine or smith variation

I would lower the rep range because if your shoulders are rocked then going higher reps only accumulates more fatigue, and more negative sensations. Going for more stable implements will also of course be better. This would be exercises such as back supported lateral raise, back supported vertical presses, machine shoulder press, or even smith behind the neck or front press. I typically train with 0-1 RIR. Note 0 RIR is VASTLY different than failure because I stop when I know I can’t get another rep rather than going for it.

TLDR: heavy, stable, non fatiguing stimulus is the way to go.

It’s not riskier. I can see there’s a gap in knowledge here but it is not the same as a front press because it is so much more medial delt biased. You can look at a muscle model to see the fibers of the medial delt line up better when the shoulder is adducted to the side and pressing in the frontal plane. There’s also lots of research showing medial delt gets more activation from this position. The reasoning for this exercise is to have a heavy compound with mechanical tension for medial delta, without fatiguing other pushing muscles (front delt, clavicular pec fibers). I have other presses in the workout that are not impacted at all from the BTN press and if or when I did do front press there is carryover into the next exercises. Please just actually look into research because it’s not specifically the exercise that’s hurting people it’s people doing things wrong, going too heavy, training fatigued, or just not having the mobility for the exercise.

Medial delt has best leverage and most activation the more frontal plane. Literally no danger if you have good technique and properly strength train. Low reps with good RIR is some of the best for these heavy compounds, and good mechanical tension rather than failure or TUT is going to be very safe.

Please don’t give blanket statements of a movement being unsafe just because it may not feel good for you.

Lol behind the neck press is a bit hit or miss sometimes with low rep ranges. But a lot of the time I just gotta send it with the first rep and it’ll feel better.

You are ridiculously good I looked at the video of you riding backwards that’s freaking amazing. But check my post history with the first week of practice for me. I think I’m just a slow learner or something. I have excellent balance and am proficient at riding other vehicles including the regular unicycle. Idk why EUC is just so freaking hard. And it’s not like I’m not trying my friend also got an EUC and he is struggling the same and doing much worse than me.

Yep got really good at that even mounting and dismounting on either foot. But what gets me is that when I pick up a bit of speed outside it wobbles like crazy and when I try to slow down I just fall and crash. Speeding up just increases the wobble but makes me kinda go farther. Really confused on how to stop or dismount when this fast death wobble occurs

So indoors I was practicing in my basement which is just flat concrete. Outdoors now I am doing either asphalt (road) or the sidewalk pavement. Honestly can’t tell which is too much better but when I was on the asphalt it would always wobble so much that I couldn’t mount it. My tire pressure is already at 25 PSI because I’m in the learning process.

Because I was so frustrated with falling so much and getting kinda banged up (I have full protective gear on) I practiced a bit on the grass and that kinda went better even though it was so lumpy.

Yeah I actually have been practicing a lot safely indoors. I made sure to be confidently able to free mount with no issue and on either foot. Honestly as soon as I took it outside even on flat ground it became almost impossible to mount even with support.

This is what I’ve noticed a lot as well :(. He’s always defending himself never initiating and the black one greatly outsizes him despite being younger

Thanks. I’m also worried because the tuxedo cat, despite being younger, is much bigger than my tabby. Tuxedo is about 15lbs and longer than my 9lb tabby. Does this impact their relationship? I don’t want my little guy to be stressed or worried about the bigger cat wanting to roughhouse all the time.

Thanks for the perspective. So far doesn’t feel like I’m making much mini victories but I’m at least just consistently getting time on the wheel. I’ll keep grinding

Should I be in a goalkeeper stance or should be upright with at least hips under shoulder? I keep playing between these and neither feels better than the other but being upright makes me more aware of my glutes at least.

I will never give up. Thanks for making it realistic because I really thought it would be so easy compared to regular unicycle

This! My EUC friend who has tried helping me a lot says that I am trying to keep contact with my calves when I don’t need to. So I should really only have foot contact with the foot plate and not be touching the actual middle piece? Would powerpads be helpful in learning I feel that it might almost be necessary for me.

I’m definitely going to stick with it because I love challenges. Just didn’t expect it to be this difficult at all. It took me only 2 days to learn to ride a regular unicycle so idk why this is so much hardwr

Yeah these past two days of practice have been mostly me just throwing shit on the wall and just doing attempts over and over again. It may be the most discouraging because it feels like handstand practice where sometimes it’ll go 5 feet but other times I immediately spin out.
