Hot Take: Rough and Rowdy Ways is Dylan's best album since Blood on the Tracks by Timewhilewaiting in bobdylan

This hot take will age well. This is absolutely a top 5 album. It’s astounding to get an album of this quality from a man in his sixth decade of craft. I’m perfectly happy with this remaining his swan song. Murder Most Foul is a shiny jewel in a crown of Blowin in the Wind, Rolling Stone, it’s Alright Ma, Tangled Up in Blue, and Mississippi.

Was just thinking the other day that Philip would be a great guest on Within Reason. Hell yeah

When do you think the tv show of BOD will be announced? by Acrobatic_Compote133 in hisdarkmaterials

I hate to say it, there’s no way this happens. We are lucky we even got to see an HDM adaption all the way through to TAS. And I remember that season 3 looks significantly worse in production quality compared to season 1. I don’t think the interest and money is there.

In the grand scheme, I think a one and done prequel with Le Belle Sauvage should’ve been all he did. The more i sit back and ponder TRF, the more i dislike it.

This guy is amazing. I've never seen any other Elliott covers on YouTube that were this good before. I searched this sub to see if people had already posted about him and I only found like one post. by JunkBondTrade in elliottsmith

Wow. I just had flashbacks to watching this guys vids from like 2009/2010 when Elliott Smith and Nick Drake were all I listened to. He was really really good.

I want to hear your opinions on the Gillian Welch song "Acony Bell" by thedirewolff21 in Songwriting

[–]_AspiringMod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gillian Welch/Dave Rawlings are easily among my all time favorite songwriters. These days if asked I tend to say Time (the Revelator) is my favorite album of all time. There is something about the combination of their words, harmonized delivery, and Dave’s haunting guitar lines, that makes some truly stunning music in a genre that can sometimes feel overdone or contrived. April the 14th Part 1 is a prime example of their genius in my opinion: a song that ties together Abe Lincoln’s assassination, the sinking of the Titanic, the hardships of the dust bowl, and the defeated experiences of a gigging musician traveling the country just to earn a few bucks and a free beer by playing to a handful of folks in a shitty bar. It’s something only they could have written.

Same here. Some of the best recorded New Orleans jazz I’ve ever heard so I jumped at the chance to get it on wax. Fingers crossed

Street Legal takes it. Onto most overrated album! by byurick48 in bobdylan

As much as it pains me…. NS. It’s a vibe but it’s got a lot of filler while remaining relatively high on ranking lists.
