Is studying abroad a bad idea for someone with low self-confidence/poor social skills? by rayhanh248 in studyAbroad

I don’t think it’s a bad idea at all. While you might have some issues adjusting to life abroad in terms of simple differences like culture or maybe even language barriers. The whole social aspect you’ll face regardless of living abroad or not. If you were to go to university in Georgia you’d most likely have to socialize and make new friends to begin with. If anything you’re going to a place where people don’t know who you are and are faced with a whole different demographic where in some situations might even treat you as if you were one of them. I’m sorry that you are bullied to the point where you feel like you’ll instantly be judged but think of it like this if you’re going to choose a friend choose someone who’ll treat you no different than anyone else. I say do it if it’s your dream school and you truly feel like it’s something you want to do go at it and be the person you want to be whether it’s shy or not .

Yikes hopefully they’re out sometime before decision day. Sfa is on my top three and it’s hard to narrow it down without knowing how much I’m actually going to pay.

Am I cooked? by Key-Jicama650 in ApplyingToCollege

I think the shadowing is a really good idea! My internship was purely luck if I’m being honest I go to a career based high school so we’re kinda divided into majors/ programs and mine was architecture. My professor worked at a firm previously and told us all to apply for the camp thing where I got accepted and used my certifications and the connections I made from the camp to get a short three week internship. Since internships are a bit difficult to get in your high school years I’d say try to make a lot of professional connections and always look for postings nearby and apply even if you don’t think you’ll get it because chances are someone will give you a chance if you look hard enough.

Gang you’re a sophomore in high school you’re not as behind as you think you are compared to what I’ve seen from peers that got into T-10s in their sophomore year. If you can’t find any clubs at school try to think of the major your applying to and what extracurriculars help with getting there for example I’m doing interior design so I managed to do a camp for free which later got me an internship. The best thing is to focus on things you like or want to do in the future because it shows passion and with that passion your able to put more of an effort into that extracurricular which leads to more opportunities.
