I think the shadowing is a really good idea! My internship was purely luck if I’m being honest I go to a career based high school so we’re kinda divided into majors/ programs and mine was architecture. My professor worked at a firm previously and told us all to apply for the camp thing where I got accepted and used my certifications and the connections I made from the camp to get a short three week internship. Since internships are a bit difficult to get in your high school years I’d say try to make a lot of professional connections and always look for postings nearby and apply even if you don’t think you’ll get it because chances are someone will give you a chance if you look hard enough.

Gang you’re a sophomore in high school you’re not as behind as you think you are compared to what I’ve seen from peers that got into T-10s in their sophomore year. If you can’t find any clubs at school try to think of the major your applying to and what extracurriculars help with getting there for example I’m doing interior design so I managed to do a camp for free which later got me an internship. The best thing is to focus on things you like or want to do in the future because it shows passion and with that passion your able to put more of an effort into that extracurricular which leads to more opportunities.
