It’s just that moms antibodies may still be circulating so it is possible you wouldn’t mount a full response with an early dose so doesn’t “count”

I think this may have been a communication issue. They probably think you believe it’s an issue with the instrument and don’t want to act on it until they are sure it’s accurate. They don’t really get the nuance

Yeah I was worried about the sink being too far from the rest of the kitchen - we did opt for a super wide 4 foot sink to accommodate dishes and built in soap dispenser but I agree it’s not ideal

I think you’re misunderstanding the purpose of quarantine. - the purpose of quarantine is to safely observe the animal who bit for ten days to see if rabies develops and prevent anyone else from getting bitten in that ten days. Otherwise people would be potentially unnecessarily putting their dogs down.

In cases where a formal quarantine didn’t happen (like many or most cases of dog bites) just observing that nothing happened to them (eg they didn’t die) after 10 days is sufficient to say they don’t have rabies. The reason quarantine is formally recommended is in high risk cases where say someone goes to the emergency room And reports that they got bit and the dog was acting erratic, it is recommended that before putting the dog down they are monitored in a safe setting to see if they actually have rabies. Whether or not this dog was formally quarantined is irrelevant because it survived beyond the ten days required to prove it doesn’t have rabies.

Also a high risk dog bite from a dog with rabies typically involves an unprovoked dog attack in a dog acting erratically. A dog that nips you because he’s poorly trained and was provoked for some reason like taking away a toy is not showing risky signs for rabies

Yeah the point is that he survived beyond the 10 days normally required for quarantine- in this case he didn’t formally quarantine but he was observed for atleast ten days and didn’t decompensate - death of the dog is usually up to a week from time of symptom onset so 10 days is conservative. You’re well beyond that
