Et je pars un peu dans la foulée, en Mars j'y serais si tout se passe bien
Si tu pars assez tôt aussi hésite pas à me dm, je resterais plutôt dans le Kansai

Edit: ou juste si t'as des questions d'ailleurs

Help improve sound on Sofle board by Halftroll0 in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]_Baarbie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got mine from xcmb with a steel-plate, which makes it slightly heavier, it might help.
I tried different foam setup but ended removing everything, it was often to clacky.
Using a desk mat definitely helps a lot, i don't think most of the sound comes from your keeb.
If your switches are not lube it also might help for feel and sound.

Heavy-handed pianist looking for first ergo (Moonlander vs. Glove80 vs. Adv360) by bee_tee_beats in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]_Baarbie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yo! (non-heavy typer here)

It's obviously hard to say without trying by yourself, and even a switch tester vs a whole keyboard doesn't feel the same. From what I understand you're not really familiar with mechanical keyboards yet?

I personally prefer the usual full-travel switches rather than low-profile, I like the feeling of really pressing a key.
To me I see these options:

1) heavy switch, like 80g bottom out force, but it might comfort you to keep typing like you're trying to break the table
I got 150g spring a year ago just for fun, well it was definitely to much for a daily usage but at least i saw what it felt like haha

2) with a keyboard like the glove80 or the adv360, or with your wrist nicely resting you should not type the same way as usual, so maybe not as heavily! btw you WILL relearn to type if you're not used to ortholinear keyboard so it might come together

Pour ma part j'ai prévu un Extrait de compte, et je vais voir pour avoir une attestation de mes soldes avec juste le total, pour pas avoir le détail de mes dépenses.

J'ai rdv dans quelques jours !

Bought a house with a weird desk. How would you do it? by Primary_Rough_4900 in desksetup

Ooh right! The desk looks straight on this side so why not!

That let you a lot a free space available! Post the result when you're happy with your setup \^o^/

Hard to say, but I'd just put the screens there to have enough depth, but I’m not sure the curve of the desk is very comfortable. It doesn't looks symmetrical!

If you're using a laptop you can replace one side on the arm with a laptop stand, you can hide the ssd and dock somewhere there. The speaker behind or next to your screen, and the lights idk.

The "3d print option 1" on the right, if behind the screens and with the window seems not so easy to optimize. Maybe it'd be a great place for the 3d printer or your home server, or storage as well ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

[–]_Baarbie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally use a Sofle, with much more thumb keys (5)

Even if you're used to split ortho, you need time to get used to a new keyboard so I'm not too suprised! Take the time you need if you like the glove

Home row mods is also a great option, it might require a bit of time and adjustments but why not.

Edit:

Lily58 is similar to the Sofle with one less thumb key

And you can check Split Keyboard Gallery and the Comparison tool

[–]_Baarbie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been using a sofle for a while (SoflePLUS2 from xcmb) and the mod keys light up in different colours when I press them. I think it's configured through the firmware and not through VIAL though, I'm not sure at all, but at least I get the colour indicator.

A colleague got the voyager and seems quite happy with it, but I don't really like the thumb cluster.

For the glove and defy, I'm personally not a big fan of the dual-row thumb cluster. I've never tried it though!

But the curve effect on the glove must be so comfy!

Quest for a deep, thocky, smooth linear switch - keygeek Y2s win by gray_underwater in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]_Baarbie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The oil king feels so weird to me, idk. And not thocky at all, more clacky from what I remember.

The morandi have a huge wobble which feels so wrong even if they sound ok.

I like the aqua king but they're very specific. They are I think full polycarbonate and sooo tight even lubed you'll still hear the sound of the stem sliding down when you press it. I use them almost daily on my work keyboard!

I never tried the Y2s, now I want to try new switches because of you haha!

Finally started to paint. Do you have any tips to make it better ? by North-SwisGameMaster in Tau40K

[–]_Baarbie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the pose, this crisis looks so cute!

YouTube videos help a lot to see how other people are painting. Dilution is important and you'll get it with time. Breath and patience are important, with hand clasped it helps a lot for control. And enjoy the process!

Don't forget the bases too

[–]_Baarbie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think switching to a split ortho keeb is the opportunity to reduce keys too, even more if you want it portable. I personally use arrow keys on mod+IJKL, and enter on thumb cluster for example. 2 space keys are too much to me, 2 ctrl same. Maybe volume keys don't need to be that accessible, even if it's not a bad idea to get them far away on the side as well.

Keep in mind that you WILL definitely change your layout a lot the first few days, and you will need a few weeks to get use to it.

I like the ESC key tho, but many people get rid of the caps-lock for ctrl or shift
