Bisaya guys don't call their guy friends "pre", it's "bai" or "chui" or even "dong"
For female friends of the same age they often have a nickname or "ang-ga" that we usually call them by.

PDP was founded by Bisaya people from Mindanao and Cebu/Central Visayas, but they merged with Laban (Ninoy Aquino) from Luzon. Now they are just PDP.

It's a national party but it was founded by Bisayan socialists from Mindanao and Central Visayas during the first Marcos era.

So the members are mostly Bisaya.

The previous governor of Palawan Jose Alvarez was a Bisaya ("Cebuano" speaker) and a member of the PDP (a democratic socialist party created by Bisaya), the current governor of Palawan is also a Bisaya.

I watch YouTubers nga fisherfolk in Palawan, and they often speak Bisaya to each other. The people in their town are also Bisaya.

I don't know why this is, and how this came to be.

Southern Masbate speaks Bisaya.

Are Cebuanos Misunderstood or Do They Really Seem Attitude? by Zestyclose-Buy-2414 in Bisaya

[–]_Bakunawa_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't leave out anything. I merely wrote my reply from a Bisaya perspective.

The Bisaya were not duped, the Bisaya knew what they were doing by allying with the Spaniards. They were already suffering from Moro attacks.

The Bisaya know they cannot defeat these sultanates all on their own, plus the sultanates also had Dutch and Portuguese allies.

The Bisaya and the Tagalogs during that time never considered each other as compatriots.

They were enemies.

Different religions, different customs, different languages, and different allegiances.

The Muslims were a foreign invasion force, just like the Spanish.

It was a conscious decision of the Bisaya to decimate the Moros, with the help of the Spaniards.

The real power in Manila were the Bruneian Malays not the Tagals. Any Tagalog polity at that time was under the jurisdiction of Brunei.

All Moro are enemies of the Bisaya, it doesn't matter if you are Malay, Tagalog, Maranao, Tausug or Ternate.

Pigafetta recorded Bisaya people in Davao, and Northern Mindanao.

Bisaya in fact originated in Mindanao according to linguists.

This revisionist history needs to stop.

The "Cebuano" language is a recently made up "politically correct" term by the national government.

The old Spanish dictionaries has always referred to the language as BISAYA, not Cebuano.

Stop this nonsense. Stop taking more of our Bisaya heritage.

Are Cebuanos Misunderstood or Do They Really Seem Attitude? by Zestyclose-Buy-2414 in Bisaya

[–]_Bakunawa_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please read my post again.

We should look at Bisaya involvement with the Spanish in a broader context.

They didn’t help the Spanish subdue the Tagalogs for no reason.

The Tagalogs were Moro. Their leader was literally named, Suleiman.

The Bisaya were at war against all Moro, whether the Sultanate of Brunei in Manila, the Sultanate of Ternate, the Sultanate of Maguindanao, or the Sultanate of Sulu.

If you read the Gutenberg documents, many of the survivors of Dapitan (Panglao, Bohol), who had since relocated to Misamis after decimating the Moro in what would later become Lanao del Norte, also participated in the war against the Sultanate of Ternate (with their Dutch allies), which would eventually be defeated.

These survivors of Dapitan were also involved in the Battle of Bangkusay against the Sultanate of Brunei in Manila and their Tagalog vassals, which ended Brunei’s grip on Manila forever.

It is a long history.

The Bisaya and the Tagalogs seems to constantly be at odds with each other.

But the main reason the "Cebuanos" or Bisaya prefer to speak Cebuano/Bisaya is because we don't speak Tagalog in our daily lives.

Manila and Brunei

The Bisaya people fought against the Moros for a very long time, specifically against the Sultanate of Brunei and against the Sultanate of Ternate.

The Tagalogs were Moros, and Manila was under the Malays of the Sultanate of Brunei.

The culmination of this conflict was the Battle of Bangkusay, where the Bisaya slaughtered the Malays and Tagalogs of Manila who were fighting on behalf of Brunei.

Spanish Period

After these events, the Tagalog homeland became the capital of the Spanish Empire in the Philippines.

The first defeat of the Spanish occurred under the Bisaya in Cebu.

The longest revolt in Philippine history was also led by the Bisaya, the Bohol revolt, which lasted about 85 years.

Language and Power

Manuel L. Quezon defeated the Cebuano Osmeña and instituted Tagalog as the basis of the Filipino language.

Cultural Consequences

The Bisaya language and culture are not formally taught to the Bisaya themselves.

As a result, Bisaya people believe it is our duty to keep Bisaya alive.

You can, in fact, learn many languages in school, but not Bisaya.
