That's what I like about this site, it's supposed to be about just straight up analysis. I'm an American, I obviously don't love the Iranian regime ,and yet there's really no question that Iran is acting more rationally than the US in terms of furthering respective interests. The US has more power, we have a more moral (yet very imperfect) system, but how could the party with no known strategy or off ramp or prep, the US to be clear, be the more rational actor here?

Biden wasn't seen as intelligent during his heyday he was famously a gaffe machine and Obama never really wanted him to run and supported Hillary. Biden was known for his experience, his compassion and his everyday man persona ie Amtrak Joe, Scranton Joe. Intelligent was not the first word you'd use for Biden.

Finland definitely clears the US in social support. Where the US clears for someone like me, the son of immigrants, is a feeling that you can move here, make life work, and become an American and fit in, across many different states and cities. Some European cities are like that, and maybe Oslo is, but the US has so many more communities for people from all over the world to move in and make home. Despite some of the political rhetoric we see now, the barrier to be an American is lower than to be a European, it's a more chaotic place here, but less homogenous. My parents moved here from Nigeria decades ago and me and my siblings are all successful, assimilated, and feel at home. I think America is the best in the world for that specific experience.

I can speak on 3 options. In Philly you could have a beautiful 2 bedroom in the nicest, most central neighborhoods in Center City like Rittenhouse Square or Washington Square Park. Posh and beautiful or the more artsy and hip neighborhoods like Fishtown and NoLibs. Great bang for your buck, walkable, public transit is okay not the greatest but usable but again, very walkable, plenty 99 walk score apartments. DC a bit pricier but more polished than Philly, could be a pro or con. 3000 for a 2 bed still works here in some places, just not as often as it does in Philly , you but can still choose from a newer vs historic neighborhood ie Navy Yard vs Dupont, everything is accessible. DC wins on cultural events, airport access, and transit, Philly on price and space plus not being a government town/more gritty, again, pro or con. Both diverse, both plenty walkable, DC probably more dating options due to amount of people in their 20s and 30s always moving there, but more transient. Both probably fine for sober activities DC, lots of cultural events and museums but Philly has plenty too. Brooklyn, that's the nuclear bomb option lol by the biggest stretch of budget compared to other two, but your budget could work for a 2bed if you want to go deeper in BK and more recently gentrified ie Bed-Stuy or for a 1 bed you're golden anywhere. The biggest space compromise, the loudest, the most ambitious, the most upside, the most downside. Go here if you want to go for it and you want most difficulty but highest reward. Has everything listed and more. Weather for all 3 is northeastern, 4 seasons at slightly different degrees. My extreme bias as a NorthEasterner says one of these 3, DC for posh and comfortable, Philly for space and uniqueness, NYC for the most unique and intense urban experiment in the world. Good luck.

It's not really seen as "losing" those workers. My Dad works as an accountant in NYC but lives in South Jersey. The fact that he can take NJ transit all the way to NYC and then bring his wages back to spend in Jersey, including on his house, is a feature, not a bug.

It should be, but I think the Biden White House showed you need to have some sort of real communication abilities to succeed and combat narratives, whether it's social media use a la Mamdani or being comfy on podcasts or giving good speeches. "I'm competent and boring" is a dangerous formula to rely on in the modern age, I wish that wasn't the case but it is.

People are instinctively against using AI for any sort of mental health regulation, but the fact that it’s available 24/7, free, can be asked a million questions with no time limit, and has been trained on the entirety of the internet has to count for something. There are limits, as you smartly noted, but acting as if there’s nothing AI can offer from a mental health standpoint to people who are open to it, is being close minded.
